  1. Hi mmc5124! This is good to know. I live and work in downtown Chicago as an L&D RN but more more am growing tired of the city life and considering the move back to my hometown of Chapel Thrill. The big thing that stops me is the low hourly rate compared to Chicago. {I've been gone for 10+ years and can't remember a time when things were cheap} Can anyone comment here as to any pay difference between ADN, BSN and MSN nurses in the Triangle area? What about other benefits like PTO accrual for specific hospitals like UNC,WakeMed, or Duke?
  2. Good Job Kwal! Still amazing news to know that you're definitely in the program! Pulling for you, and good luck :)
  3. Check your email! I'm in :)
  4. What time are they supposed to email us? ON PINS AND NEEDLES OVER HERE!!!
  5. SampsonSis thanks for the info. I'm still waiting to hear back from a few other schools so this is good to know! Just got off the phone with Fin. Aid and it sounds like the first tuition payment is due Dec 5
  6. futureRnwaiting, I got your PM but it's disabled on my acct. Anyhow, I didn't take the GRE because my cumulative GPA was above the requirement for Rush. In undergrad, I was mostly a B student with some As. Unfortunately with NursingCAS it won't calculate you GPA until you submit the application for them to process it and then send it on to the school...seems kind of backwards, right? Have you tried googling a GPA calculator tool? Hope this helps and good luck!
  7. So exciting MaddyBella! You should get a save the date in your email a few days after you get an invite to interview. So you should get it soon :) Not sure the exact details but it will be in early September.
  8. Very cool! Anyone else out there going to the GEM First Look in September?
  9. Congrats Gennabee! When did you submit your application? Still waiting... :)
  10. Hi There, I've been looking at taking vocational training to get a certification as a Phlebotomist, CNA, Pharm Tech, EKG or MRI Tech...In my area (Chicago), there are a lot to choose from... I am currently taking my pre-reqs but will have just missed the deadline to apply for my top school of choice once I am finished next Spring, so I will be "twiddling my thumbs" for about 8 months after I finish pre-reqs. I figured a vocational Cert. might come in handy during that time, while I wait to start Nursing school. I would also like to get some patient care experience given that I have none, so I wanted some input from fellow and former Nursing students to see how you are paying/paid for school. I'm attempting to go back for a Master's and really overwhelmed about how much debt I will be taking on. Is it worth paying they high, upfront cost for a Phlebotomy training / certification program? And will I actually be able to find a job given that I have NO experience? Thanks for all your help!
  11. You're a true inspiration! Thank you for sharing and thank you to all your sacrifices you made along the way to serve our country! :)
  12. Naysando, How did your interview go with Rush?! Are you officially a student?
  13. Thanks Renee. Good Luck on your interview! I'm still well over a year from applying since I have to do all my pre-reqs.
  14. Hello Everyone! I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am taking prerequisites with the goal of applying to a Master's program, but I need to have Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II in the same semester. Otherwise I will have to wait another year to begin. I am wondering if anyone knows of any schools in IL (WI or IN) at any college, university, or community college that offer Anatomy I and II where the sequence can be done in one semester as opposed to the usual 2 semesters. Thanks!
  15. Hello All, I'm in the process of researching Master's programs in the Chicago area and I'm targeting Rush and DePaul as my top choices. I'm planning to apply to both but would like to hear from current students or recent grads of each program or anyone who had a similar choice to make and why they chose one school over the other (Rush v. DePaul). The curriculums seem to be comparable, so what are the main differences recent graduates have encountered? (i.e. finding employment within your desired area) Does one program save graduates time or money in eventually going back for an APN?
