RN-MSN program at Aspen University

I am enrolled in the RN-MSN program at Aspen University and after finishing the first two courses I feel that this has been a great choice. If anyone out there is looking for an affordable program with solid nursing content check out Aspen. :yeah:

Hi jmuhammad10, I have been considering Aspen University for sometime now (I have been accepted to UTA, SNHU, Fort Hays). I just would like to be able to get my BSN the easiest and the fastest way while staying affordable. My main ultimate goal is to able to get into an NP program (Mental Health/Psychiatric NP). Can you give me any feedback on how you went about your transition from RN-MSN to having your certificate post MSN (from which school did you pursue your NP education after graduating from Aspen?). Did you encounter any difficulty with transferring credits from Aspen? If not, can you also give me any feedback on how you are doing now? If you had to do your nursing education again would you have still chosen the same path you took? Just curious--your ideas will be highly appreciated.

Directly after completing my MSN through Aspen University, I enrolled, with no issues or problems with transfer of credits, to Kaplan,s post-master FNP certificate program. Aspen is CCNE accredited, which is an important when continuing on with another program.

@Dr.MarcGayol (or others who can answer) :-)

I completed a BSN online through UTA. I noticed an ad for aspen that it is $325 per month; 12 classes; 24 months. I am interested in the BSN-MSN. Are there any prerequisite courses outside of having a BSN? What is your experience on the cost? Is it truly $325 per month for 24 months? Is there a large down payment in the beginning or any other hidden” fees? Does it take 24 months for everyone (more/less)? Is there any clinical? Do you choose a focus such as education vs. management? Is the enrollment process tedious (testing, communication issues, etc.)?

Thank you!

I didn't do my MSN at Aspen, they do not have a NP program. But I enjoyed the RN to BSN program, found it not difficult and I did the program full time while working full time. There are no hidden costs, the tuition is as stated with the addition of books, proctored exam fee, graduation fee and a technology fee. My cost for the BSN total through graduation was $10,100. Most of my books came used from Half.com except for one new book. I highly recommend this school. If were interested in anything other than NP I would have done my MSN there as well. Professor Gayol is the bomb, had him for two courses last year. In addition I had no problem being accepted to all the MSN programs I applied to with my Aspen degree, they are CCNE accredited and their courses are what are expected as prerequisites for a MSN program.

How is it that someone in this thread quoted fee for RN to MSN under 7000.00 but, upon checking, the current price from RN to BSN Is close to $10,000. I'm looking for the best cheapest RN to BSN

Thank you for all the information you provided, I live in Florida and currently exploring my options for RN-BSN programs, Aspen sounds amazing, the low rate the payment plan, the freedom to take any non nursing credits I want and transfer them from Community college. My only fear is the accreditation, Aspen is not ACEN accredited, and not regionally accredited. What would that mean as far as job acceptance or trying to do my MSN in a different college? I know its been a while since you posted but I hope you see this comment

Thank you

Hello All!

I am both a graduate and professor of Aspen Unversity and will answer any questions directed to me about the programs, degrees offered, the staff or accreditation, etc.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Dr. Gayol

I have just been accepted and was about to sign the enrollment forms when I decided to search for threads. Course of study is RN to BSN. Everything seem almost too perfect; low tuition ($325/cr for nursing classes and $150 for general studies), and communication. My major concern is this, I live in Massachusetts, if I complete this program will I be able to transfer to UMASS for example if I chose to, will the credits be accepted or will I ultimately have to do my MSN at Aspen? That may be my plan who knows seeing that its so cost effective, but I do not want a degree that limits me. Also, I work for the state, will they accept this degree? I know it is CCNE accredited, but it is not ACEN. I am just very concerned about the fact that it is not regionally accredited, and will that affect me in the future.

Thank you in advance for your information.

I had no problem begin accepted into ALL the MSN programs I applied to with my Aspen Degree. CCNE accreditation is all that is needed. If you are interested in a specific program you can always talk to an admission advisor at the school you are interested in prior to enrolling to be sure the degree will be accepted. The Nurse Practitioner program I chose is in MA and I had no problems.

Thank you for sharing; ultimately, my plan is to become a NP.

There are a lot of people who are very satisfied with Aspen. I am wondering how long the RN-to MSN can be completed. the website gives ranges but not specifically for the RN to MSN program. Thank you!

I'm almost finished with the RN to MSN nurse educator route at Aspen. It will be 16 months total for me. They have recently changed their courses from 10 weeks to 8 weeks. So you can probably do it in 18 months or less depending on how many courses you take at a time. I hope that helps. I'm at [email protected] if you have any questions I can help with. Best wishes

It's not regionally accredited though, which can pose a problem for some. Have you run into any trouble because of that?

Has anyone run into issues over Aspen not being regionally accredited? Thank you.
