RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college

Published

I'm applying for the Generic Full Time RN program for fall 2014 (August). I took my NLN Pax exam already and got an overall score of 143. Curious if this will be goof enough to get in? Can't find any stats since the previous test was the TEAS... Looking forward to hearing back from anyone else that has taken the test already. Thx.

I'm here for bootcamp...been here but now we are on break.

I'd start reading fundamentals of nursing. If the AO is starting from chapter 1 so will the generic PT and FT. I'd be mother than happy to forward the syllabus if any one wants it. Keep in my though, this is for the ACCELERATED OPTION.

Will do. Remember this is the Accelerated program's syllabus.

I am reading the comments and questions and brought me back in january 2014 when I started the nursing program at MDC. I am in the PT program so for us it takes longer than full timers or AO. I remember being a little nervous about the upcoming first semester of nursing, but I can say thank God I survived. I am finishing my second semester this week. Of the new people that is coming here, u can purchase you're clinicals tops or green tops and pants at the store right across the street from the campus they are cheaper than the ones at the bookstore, and I've seen many students wearing them. The pearson exam u will get one at the end of each semesters and it is 5% of you're grade. Also for clinicals I did purchased the lab coat from the bookstore, but I found out that they were not mandatory for clinicals (at least not with the professors I had) , only the white top, the greens pants and white shoes (I purchased mines at payless) the name tag is mandatory for clinicals and u should order it already cause it takes about 4 weeks for them to give it back to you. Don't believe what rate my professors says, I have got good professors so far that are willing to help out. I will suggest to find a good study group, (not lazy people, but people that truly want to be there.) As far as books u will need, depends in which track you are in (fundamentals book, nursing interventions and clinical skills, assessment book, pharmacology book) if you are going to clinicals in the first semester u will need to purchase: (the drug guide, the laboratory and diagnostics book, and also the nurse's pocket guide). If u are in the PT track I will suggest to hold on for the books u need for clinicals till january 2015 when u will be going into the hospital. I think I pretty much said everything if u have any other questions please feel free to ask. Good luck to everyone starting this journey!!!!!

Wow thanks for all the info

What did you think of fundamentals?

Did you get any A's throughout your enrollment in nursing? Or do you find it difficult to get an A?

Will do. Remember this is the Accelerated program's syllabus.

Thanks ..okay ..anything helps lol

@cutiejo25, i saw a post you had a few months ago about the pax rn, any suggestions on what i need to study? If you do, can you email it to me?

Will do. Remember this is the Accelerated program's syllabus.

Could you please send it to me too??? [email protected] thank you

hello, I would say that getting A's is not impossible, but it's not easy. You will have to get used to a new type of testing, questions in exams are scenario type only, so will need to practice and learn how to answer them. Fundamentals is not an easy class but if you read, practice questions with the pearson program you should be ok. I have been doing pretty good so far, remember that nursing school is not a walk in the park, and C means continued:yes: good luck with everything

Could you please send it to me too??? [email protected] thank you

If you could do the same for me also. Thank you.

anyone has an idea about the curriculum that we have to do for class (Generic full time - Fundamentals) it that a book or that from the app that they need to send us

In the respiratory program we used to joke and instead of saying we got a C you'd just say "See you next semester".

Not as rewarding as passing with an A, but it's true.

Still all that counts is passing the board exams. A degree in nursing is pointless without a license.

I'm so anxious to get the class syllabus so I can mentally prepare myself for the madness ahead.
