RN Format and got 205 questions - What's Up with That?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Took the Nclex RN today and my heart sank after 75 questions and sank further at 205? What does it all mean??!?

Any news yet Judy?

Strange then why our Dean of Nursing who writes questions for the NCLEX and is the President for the State Board of Nursing would tell us such things.

I find it extremely odd that your Dean who is also the President of the State Board of Nursing and more importantly, writes questions for NCLEX would be blatantly stating that it is predetermined for every student to your entire school of nursing numerous times. I would assume that since she has those titles and that she actually writes questions for NCLEX, she would be sworn to secrecy since Pearson and Kaplan clearly state in writing that the test is in CAT format.

So if you are "predetermined" on the amount of questions, wouldn't you think someone who writes for NCLEX get in trouble for disclosing such info?

Perhaps it was a misunderstanding. I just wanted to make it clear for those reading this post. I don't want anyone taking NCLEX to get any unneeded anxiety. Prepare well and you'll pass!!!! ???

Well Judy? I am still curious how it went?

If you go back and read my original post I never said that it is predetermined for every person who takes the NCLEX. I stated that some people are selected to take every question regardless of how well they are doing on the test. I am not saying that she is correct and im not saying that she is not, it doesnt really matter anyways. I believe its the truth, but that is just me. I dont see why telling us some of you will take 265 questions regardless of how well you are doing would be disclosing too much information and could get her into trouble. Doesn't really matter does it?

All in all, what I am saying is that you can pass the test whether you take 75 questions or 265. You have the same liklihood of passing either way, so don't hang your head and think you failed if you have to take every single question.

It is not predetermined, it is based on how well you answer the questions. Everybody in my graduating class passed with the minimum amount of questions. If you are not doing well the computer will give you a question that is not as hard until it can determine if you are minimally competent. The system works by giving you progressively harder questions.
