RN Format and got 205 questions - What's Up with That?

Took the Nclex RN today and my heart sank after 75 questions and sank further at 205? What does it all mean??!?

It means nothing other than that you met or did not mean the minimum level of competency at 75 questions? Did you try the PVT?

Yes ... I did try. I got the "HOLD" pop-up. Sitting on my hands for now :uhoh3:

Our teachers kept reminding us that as long as the computer was still on, we still had a chance of passing. I took mine on Monday and got the "hold" popup too. It was off by 10:00 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday) and I got the good popup. I got the quick results today and I passed. Crossing my fingers for you!

Thanks KB1975! I'm a WRECK! Why 205 and not 265? It's so curious the whole system!

After every question the computer evaluates if you're above passing standards. It can happen anytime, as soon at 75 question, at 100something, 200something, all the way up to 265. When the computer shut down at 205 if finally figured out that you were either above or below passing standards. Hoping for you it's above, good luck, try the PVT trick again and again and again! :-)

Crap! My PVT still says my test is on HOLD.... :banghead:

Urgh i know how you feel hopefully you get some good news soon

I had to take all 265. Some people are predetermined to have to take the full 265, and according to one of my instructors I talked to afterwards said that I was one of those lucky few that do and that it had nothing to do with if I was boderline or not. Thank goodness, I know that it can be nerve racking but stick in there im sure you did fine!

No one is predetermined to take a certain number of questions. The NCLEX shuts off when it determines you are competent or not.
