Hi everyone,

I am a RN, BSN recently migrated here in CA with less than a year of L and D experience. Looking for a job is so hard and it's depressing..:crying2: Does anyone know which hospital is hiring..I am at LA county. I tried applying online, in person, mail, phone.. I also have tried applying home health..still no good news..:sniff:

Thanks..

unfortunately, ca is one of the worst places for nurses without tons of experience to find rn positions.. esp in women's health. the good news is that you have some experience and a bsn! try looking for positions that require only 6mos experience. i even saw a post a few months ago requiring only 4 mos experience. sorry about your situation but you are definitely not alone! im from fl and it took me about 6 mos to land a position. don't give up and cosider relocating if you can. i heard that west virginia, texas and new mexico are pretty good about hiring less experienced rns.

best of luck and keep us posted!

you will find something, its just a matter of time.

Thanks for the advice..:) Unfortunately, I can't relocate for now even if I want to because we just moved in to a new apartment. I should have known, it's not that easy to get a job since I am new here.

If you can't relocate, try applying at nursing homes. It may not be your ideal place of work but you can still practice your profession and make a living.

I start to post, then turn and simply walk away.

Try a community health center, especially one with a women's health department.

I am not from California, or anywhere close to there. I have been reading what a tough time new grads have had finding jobs out there, though, so it must be very tough. I have been doing some job searching myself lately, and I use www.indeed.com. I was curious this morning, so I checked them out for the LA area while I was drinking my coffee and found all kinds of RN jobs on there. Here are 2 that had no requirements for experience. The second one actually said new graduates could apply in the header. Maybe one of them will work for you. Good luck and God bless.

@ Gee, What made you move CA? from the reviews on the board, it's tough finding jobs period out there, that would be the last place I would move to.

California is the number one destination for foreigners and newly arrived immigrants for reasons that are still unknown to me. In fact, I saw a statistic somewhere that indicated that 60 percent of all people who immigrate to the United States end up in California.

It's not just foreign nurses who cannot find jobs in CA. The nurses who were born and raised in CA are also struggling to find work in their local job markets.

@ mikern2be: thank you for the links :)

@ rojahs3 and TheCommuter : I moved here because I got married and my husband lives here. Yeah, I know how hard it is to find any job here in CA specially LA.

I am also a foreign grad and just got here last march..If you don't mind driving in Ventura County there are a lot of jobs here in LTCs/SNFs..I just got my RN license last week and I will start my orientation on monday.
