RN to BSN online

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.

One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.

The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.

Hi Zebras,

I checked out your link to Slippery Rock. I noticed you posted in 2005. Have you graduated, and can you elaborate on the clinical portion? Did you enjoy the on-line process of learning? Any info you can give me would be helpful. Thank you!

I just enrolled in South University. I haven't started a class yet, so I can't really say to much. I was enrolled in University of Dundee. It is just writing papers, which I pretty good at. Unfortunately, they kept changing the way they wanted it writen-I never could get clear cut directions from them. I am now having a very tough time with them transferring my student loan-they are saying they "used it all". I did not complete one module with them. I expect to pay for that one, but that is all. Just be very careful.

South has 5 1/2 week classes-all online-No clinicals. The advisor I am working with is very helpful-she is helping me battle Dundee.

IF you want her name and emai-PM me.

Did this University require a pretest for nurses? I read it in their curriculam. If you took it what was the test like ( the Nclex?) . I think they are the only University I saw so far requesting that.

Try Thomas Edison State College. They do not require stats in the BSN program.

Good luck;)

TES is looking really good about now compared with all the other institutes prerequisites. How are you liking it Mona? How far along are you ? Is it true you need a procter for tests? Your not allowed to take your tests online? How about clinicals? I was trying to find out when fall semester starts for this school but couldnt find any dates. Also I was wondering if you are forced to do the group thing online?

Some of the things these online colleges request is a bit bizarre and ridiculous.. For example South Alabama wants you to pass a drug screen as a requirement for enrollment HA! ..

I had to have a physical. I asked the advisor why. "Because we'll be sending you into your workplace to do clinicals, teaching projects, etc." Me: "It's o.k. they think I'm healthy enough to work there." :lol2:

Specializes in here and there.

I attend the University of Md..RN to BSN online program. I started this January. It is kind of expensive but i have learned a lot and i am still learning. I do enjoy the online experience, but sometimes i believe it is so much work and the RNs are treated no different than those who do not have thier RN degrees. Its like they expect you to take the NCLEX all over again and are preparng you for it..despite everything..i love the convenience of the online program..the only clinical component is community...you can also chose a clinical site close to where you live...i cant wait to be done.

Good afternoon trying to get into a online LPN_BSN is a nightmare. Anyways I was looking at Indiana State University. any info on them.. anybody who has been through their program..I would appreciate any info thanks

I received my BSN through the Jacksonville U. out of Florida. It was a lot of work, but I am glad I did it. It did not mean alot of extra pay for me, but it was something I wanted to do and to prove to myself that I could. (I had been out of school a long time before I went back). Now I am working toward a certification in Holistic nursing - we just keep on learning.

Hey Yuma: sounds like what I want to do -Clayton college for holistic nursing?

Hi...

I spoke with someone from UOP yesterday. Yeah, he made it all sound so good, easy. I really felt like I was speaking to a "used car salesman" or something though...especially with him saying things like, "don't worry about the $$...I can get you all the financial aid you need."

I decided to do some research and found this website (among others):

http://uopsucks.com

Pretty intersting site. Anyone here had these bad experiences with UOP???

Is there anyone that's enrolled or know someone that's enrolled in the RN to BSN program at the University of South Alabama. I'm going into my second semester and I was wondering what the clinical experience would be like. What's expected? I know it can be done at my area hospital but would I be with a Nurse manager, supv or nurse preceptor. Just asking.... Thanks in advance.

Is there anyone who is familiar with either Indiana University or Rush

for an RN to BSN or RN to MSN?

I am looking for an RN to MSN online program and trying to consider

all of my options.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hi Fleeeba,

I am in the MSN with a concentration in education at the University of Phoenix. I completed my BSN with them in April of this year. It took me 23 months. The MSN is about 18 months. It is alot of work but doable. It is expensive but I work full time and have a husband and 6 children so the convenience of online classes is worth it. I would highly recommend UOP.
