In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.
One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.
The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.
Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University
I just enrolled in South University. I haven't started a class yet, so I can't really say to much. I was enrolled in University of Dundee. It is just writing papers, which I pretty good at. Unfortunately, they kept changing the way they wanted it writen-I never could get clear cut directions from them. I am now having a very tough time with them transferring my student loan-they are saying they "used it all". I did not complete one module with them. I expect to pay for that one, but that is all. Just be very careful.
South has 5 1/2 week classes-all online-No clinicals. The advisor I am working with is very helpful-she is helping me battle Dundee.
IF you want her name and emai-PM me.

Sorry to hear Dundee didn't work out. That was sounding interesting.
Let us know how your new program goes for you.
I'm attending Florida Hospital College of Nursing and we have students from all over. We all pay the same tuition. It's about $220/hr. No clinicals except at the end you have to follow a manager/supervisor around. 100% online. It's NLN approved.
Hi Tweety: I also saw on another thread that you wished you considered St. Pete College online for your bsn. Have you heard anything else about SPC? Anyone else doing SPC? I'm considering them, can I do clinicals in my area, 1 hr. north of Tampa?
i'm not quite sure what has been listed thus far. i just thought i would add this list from www.allnursingschools.com

Slippery Rock charges $612 for a 3-credit class, plus fees. They require NO time on campus. My favorite part is that if you have at least 63 credits to transfer in, they don't require any liberal arts courses. Nope, no art, history, etc. Statistics and medical ethics are the only non-nursing courses they require. Accredited by NLN. I don't attend yet but am applying for fall.
That's not completely true. They do require your presence for some nursing courses

Nursing 313/314, Nursing 327/328, Nursing 412/413, Nursing 416/417, and Nursing 426/427 have actual clinical experiences. Nursing 313/314 has an on-campus clinical on four predetermined Saturdays within the term. For students living more than a 3-hour drive from campus, individual arrangements with a Certified Nurse Practitioner in your community can be made. Contact the course instructor regarding such procedures. Nursing 412/413 and Nursing 416/417 uses community sites - either ones locally with whom we have contracts or distant sites with whom a contract can be negotiated. Prior to enrolling in one of these clinical courses, you can contact the nursing department for more information.

I am currently enrolled in my 4th semester of the RN-BSN program through the University of Wyoming. It does not have a residency requirement and is $140 per credit hour. I am not yet to my clinical/practicum but they tell me you set it up a semester in advance, in your own area. I am taking just 1-2 classes at a time and have about 20 credit hrs. left to go. So far, I have found the instructors to be good and responsive, and the work challenging.
That is wonderful to hear, I am looking at this program now and was looking for feedback. I wouyld appreciate more if anyone has done the RN-BSN on-line. Thanks
The best online program that I have researched is the Unversity Of Wisconsin at Green Bay:
the only science they require is chemistry. This is unusal because every program I have researched require pharmacology and/ or pathophysiology. The program is practially all online with the exception of the health assessment and community health practicum which you find in your own local area. No virtual class chat requirements either. It is worth taking a look at.

I noticed on this site someone mentioned IWU (Indiana Wesleyan University, I think) as having a BSN program that does not require taking statistics. I have tried 3 times to take statistics and simply can't, and now won't, try it again. Does anyone know any other BSN programs that don't require statistics?
I have been with Kaplan for a year but am leaving now that the term has ended this week. It is an extremely expensive, and very accelerated program I think. Not really what I need so will be looking around on line.
