  1. I'm starting with Chamberlain on Monday also. I'm taking NR351 and have 32 credits left to complete. My book should arrive from Amazon on Monday. I still can't log in and it's making me frustrated. I spoke with the Registrar's office Friday and said they would be working through the weekend on everyone's registration. Blah blah blah...I still can't log in. I don't know who my teacher is yet. I was going to take 2 classes, but chickened out since this semester is over the holidays and my son's birthday. So if this first class goes well then I'll go full force into 2 classes per session. Goodluck to everyone! :)
  2. I'm working Thanksgiving. Off Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Working New Year's Eve and day. I'm happy with it :)
  3. How soon should I begin to contact agencies before I start traveling? example: Do I start talking to recruiters 3 months ahead of time? I don't want them to "bug" to long before I'm ready to start. :)
  4. South University does NOT require clinicals. That's not the reason I chose them, but it's a huge perk!
  5. I chose South University for my RN to BSN. I had a TON of credits transfer (more than the average RN). I'm in my first class now (an IT class) and it's going great so far. Taking 2 classes every quarter (part time), I will have my BSN in about 2 years. Bring it on!
  6. My hospital in Columbus doesn't do unit pay, BUT if you're a float nurse hospital wide then you make $3/hr.
  7. ADN currently. Starting classes in 3 days for my RN to BSN eeek :)
  8. Applied and a week later I had an interview with HR. The next day I had an interview with the nurse managers on the floor. They called me on my drive home (only a 7 mile drive) and offered me the job. :)
  9. I graduated in Dec 06 too. In my opinion, I would stick it out 20 more days atleast...then put in your notice (2 weeks or a month, whatever they require)
  10. I didn't get yelled at last week, but I was talked down to. I was told by a seasoned nurse that it is never ok to be belittled. If something gets out of hand with a doc she told me to say, "I do not disrepect you and you will not disrepect me." Many docs will respect you more if you stand up to them and not just be subservient to them.
  11. Hooray! Keep me posted! Are you in a LPN or RN program currently?
  12. $19/hr Columbus, GA (I'm getting a $0.50 raise for cost of living soon, YAY) :) +3/hr nights +3/hr weekends
  13. The cost of living (COL) here is A LOT less than New York State or Miami. So $17/hr may not sound like a lot, but you have to take into consideration the COL.
  14. Columbus Regional: apply online ONLY http://www.columbusregional.com/ Doctor's Hospital: not sure http://www.doctorshspt.com/ St. Francis Hospital: apply in person or online http://www.sfhga.com/index.asp No, you do NOT have to work in LTC first. There are plenty of position available in a hospital setting if that's what you want.
  15. I live in Columbus, but I just moved here 6 months ago. I'm not familiar with the schools here since I graduated from nursing school in North Carolina. The floor that I work on has nursing students doing clinicals from all the local schools. I've heard good and bad just like any nursing school in the Nation. I *think* starting pay for a LPN is $14/hr and RN is $18.78 where I'm employeed. $3/hr for night shift and $3/hr for weekend shift.
