RN to BSN online

Published

In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.

One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.

The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.

Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University

hi,

Thanks for the reply. I also looked at Southern University but I think I will continuew with UOP for my MSN. I will be done in 10 weeks with my BSN. It is expenxive but it should take me about 15 months.

I also am looking for an affordable RN to BSN online courses. I have 20+ years experience in nursing, and hold a current RN licence in Indiana. Need an affordable program, as I will be paying out of my pocket, and also work full time in a level 2 NICU. Need help. Thanks, babynurse, sue:saint:

I attempted to do the University of Dundee. They are very misleading. It ia almost impossible to write a "passable " paper for them.

Hello. Why was it almost impossible to write a "passable" paper for Univ of Dundee? I also pm'd you, since I am curious about Dundee, since I recently enrolled. Thanks!

Hi Mona and all interested parties-

I am in the University of Wyoming online RN-BSN program. It is $140 per hour, no residency requirement, but must maintain an active nursing license. All of the nursing classes are online but there are some classes that I will have to take elsewhere to finish. (I think I need one art course.) There is a clinical at the end of the program but it is in your own geographical area. I have sent an email to a friend who just completed it, to request more details on that aspect of the program.

[color=sienna]i am amazed that uow tuition is so low. how do you like the program so far?

good luck!

I just graduated with a degree in public relations & advertising, and really don't enjoy what i'm doing. I originally started to obtain some of my pre-med reqs, but ran into a lot of personal and family issues that distracted me, which also caused a good bit of damage to my GPA...(2.5).

I've obtained both general biologies, one general chem class, and only went as far as college algebra with my current b.a. I was wondering if i chose the ADN to BSN online route, how long would it take me to complete the program, or to atleast start working as an RN with an a.d.? Also, If I ever wanted to go as far as trying to get admitted to CRNA school, would I have a chance with an online degree? I know I would have to greatly improve my GPA, atleast for the last 60 hrs to even be considered.

I'm 24 now and had to work fulltime to fund myself w/ out loans on my first degree. Just looking for any advice that might be helpful, before i consider completely switching directions.

The "quickest" route would probably be at a private college as opposed to a community college for the ADN-at least out here in California. The private college would be expensive and the community college easier on your wallet where you might have to wait awhile to get accepted due to impacted programs (Many qualified applicants and few instructors to teach them.) You still would need to complete Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology, before you could submit your packet for the ADN program at a community college (and possibly other "hoops"). I was accepted at the private school I attended and then completed the General Biology, A & P, Microbiology before starting the Nursing track of my ADN. I started in January 2004 and graduated April 2006.Best wishes in your Nursing education and higher pursuits.:paw:

Hello ..I am also looking to get started on RN-BSN, I need some help with trying to figure out where to go..Can you all give me some guidance ?

I don't like group work or powerpoints. I hate papers but know that they are a huge part of this, I would prefer tests and quizzes. I like online and prefer the fast track..5 week courses sound great to me.....NO more clinicals.

I crossed Excelsior College off of my list d/t the Exams at the end...

UOP I believe have the groups and powerpoints..my friend went there and not everyone in the group does their part...forget that....

You guys give great advice..I would love to hear what you think......

Please help as I am struggling with this.....

Thanks,

Pammy RN

You cannot get a BSN without taking writing intensive courses and powerpoints. It is part of the process, higher education just does not come that easy...
