Applications were due today for Spring 2011 at RCC. Just wanted to say good luck to all the people that applied with me, and maybe we can keep up with each other as we wait for letters to be sent out!
Thanks, and again good luck.
Caty and Aim27...
Caty- I just finshed nursing one with Natalie and I worked the whole semester. Since we have school monday thru thursday I could only work Friday- Sunday. And working 3 days was not easy but its managable. If your schedule is the same as ours was I would recommend not working sunday night or monday night. All our tests were on Monday and tuesday. And on monday after pre clinical you are gonna have to go home and do your care plan and prepare for a test. If you choose the Am block lab on thursdays (which i recommend) you could work thurs evening too if needed since we dont have class on fridays (except for 3 fridays we had class). Anyways I made it through the semester and I worked the entire semester so it is possible. I also dont have kids which makes it easier. Hope this helps. :)
Aim27- I was an alternate for spring 2010 and didnt get in but 11 or so other alternates did. I got in right away for fall 2010 but I think we have 5 or so in our class that were originally alternates. One girl even got in the program the second day of class. So there is hope. They dont tell you what number alternate you are and I have no idea how they base which alternate gets called first but hopefully u will get that email. :)
Oh and the person that asked about the Mec campus, its based off where you live. 30 students are goin to MEC and if u live in Mo Val or close to it they will send you there.
Congratulations to those that got in. See u on orientation day!!! I will be there!
To those who didnt get in, dont give up. I had to apply twice and Im glad I waited to go to RCC is a great program and the instructors for nursing 1 are amazing.
if anyone has anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Hey Everyone.... Congrats on getting in. This is such an exciting time for you. I remember how I cried like a baby when I found out I got in! :)
I just finished nursing one with Natalie and Meka as well. It is such a great program. I worked for part of the semester and then quit because it was too much for me.... I have a child though so that made it more difficult!
Anyways.... feel free to ask any questions at all! See you all on orientation day! :)
Amanda
Hey all my fellow RCC nursing students. My name is Tish and I am soooo excited to be writing this post knowing that I too have been accepted into the spring 2011 class. This is truly a dream come true since I have applied to this program 3 times. This time last year I was an alternate and never got in, I applied and again and didnt even get offered an alternate spot. Well 3x's a charm! I got the email last friday and fell to the floor thanking God and crying. Thanks for all the info natlie, meka, and amanda. I actually plan on working part time and I have 3 children....4 if you count my husband...lol! Anywho...I look forward to meeting all of you friday...i will be the one with a huge black purse and huge smile to match...be blessed everyone and see u soon!
did anyone else get an email yesterday saying, they need to respond by "today" to reserve your spot in the program by jackie?
i wasn't aware you had to reserve the spot, i thought them emailing you to come in on intake day with your form filled out was the reservation
i got an email yesterday (technically since its 1am) that i needed to email jackie that day to reserve my spot for nursing 1? Not even a full days notice nor does it say we have to email back on the original email (other than if we decline or cant make it on intake day) to confirm we accept the invite. imma call them tomorrow cause during finals im on study mode and giving a couple hours to respond i think is kind of ridiculous
other than that, congrats to the people who made it in and GL to the alternates!
Yes I did get the email to accept my spot in the spring 2011 class. I just did a simple reply with my name and confirming that I indeed wanted the spot offered to me and that I would be attending the intake this friday. I also tried to call, but it went straight to a voicemail, so I left a msg with the same info. Yeah it was kinda wierd cuz I didnt get the email until about 3pm. But never the less I responded. Oh...by the way my name is Tish and I look forward to meeting on friday, good luck with your finals!

Caty,
Our Schedule was like this.....
Monday - Lecture: 10-12 & PreClinical (In Hospital): 1:30-3:30
Tuesday - Clinical (In Hospital): 7-12 & Lecture 1:30-3:45
Wednesday - Clinical (In Hospital): 7-12 & Lecture 1:30-3:45
Thursday - Some days just 7:30-10:30 or 1-4 and sometimes all day from 7:15-4
Friday - Some days 8-10:15 but usually this is a day off :)
This is just what our schedule was.....from what I understand they greatly vary by each semester :) I wouldnt recommend working unless there is no possible way you can survive without it. It makes things so much more difficult.
GOOD LUCK!
