Riverside Community College Spring 2011

Published

Applications were due today for Spring 2011 at RCC. Just wanted to say good luck to all the people that applied with me, and maybe we can keep up with each other as we wait for letters to be sent out!

Thanks, and again good luck. :D

I think the alternate list is randomly generated. Maybe they give out X # of acceptances and past that they do random selection?

I know that 5% of the spots are based off of random selection but I have no idea how they rank alternates.

I scored a 94% on the TEAS (97th percentile when I took it in Fall 09), and have a 3.0 science and 3.44 prerequisite GPA. This is also my second time applying.

hn0000, did you take your A&P sequence at RCC?

I have a friend that had 85 points but had 1 class in progress and he didn't get in. I'm convinced that if you had any classes in progress that they denied the app.

Congratulations!!! I got in last semester and just finished Nursing 1 :) I remember how exciting it was to get into the program! I hope your ready, its a WILD RIDE! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Brandon, I'm in the same boat as your friend. I have Psych 9 in progress. The max amount of points you can have with a class in progress is 75. You don't have a prayer with a science in progress. You wouldn't even get invited to take the TEAS. With one of the GE classes in progress, they give you no points for the entire GE section. Totally stinks. I wish they would factor in an F, so you could at least get some points for all the other classes, but they give you a big fat ZERO for an entire 25 point section of the application. I know it's not an automatic denial, since I still made the alternate list, but it makes your chances of acceptance really darn slim!

lrobinson5, I know you know quite a bit about the program, and I'm trying to get enough posts to be able to PM. Do you know if people get to choose b/w the Riverside campus and March Air Force campus?

I think it might have to do with where you live because Riverside is more popular. Probably by zip code, but I am not positive. I think everyone will move to Riverside once the new building opens up.

I was also wondering if anyone knew how many alternates they sent email to. In the email it said they wouldn't tell you what number you are as an alt. I'm just curious if anyone heard from their 'source' ;)

Hi Natalie! I was hoping you could give us a general idea of what the schedule is like. My employer requires that I work a minimum number of hours per week to keep my position, and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to fit everything in. I added up the total class/lab hours for the first semester, and it looks like we're going to be "doing something" about five hours per day. Does that sound about right? I know that doesn't count studying, just time that we're on campus. Also, it states that we'll have lab first semester, but doesn't say we'll have clinicals. Is that right?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

I went in today and talked to them. I just didn't understand how with 85 points I didn't get in or even make the alternate list -- But come to find out, they had missed a class I had taken so my points were miscalculated -- the man I met with was very nice and quick to correct it .....sooooooooo..... NOW I AM IN!!!!!!! woooo hooooo! :nurse: NURSING HERE I COME! :nurse:

:yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2: :yeah: :lol2:

Congratulations, hn0000! Sorry they stressed you out like that!

Congratulations! Good thing you went in to have your application double checked. See you on Friday :p

I think you and I are the only alternates I've seen on here. Wish we knew how many alternates they accept. Have you ever heard of alternates getting in, or is it pretty rare?
