Riverside City College: Spring 2017

Published

Greetings all future RN students. I just wanted to start a thread for any potential applicants who will be applying to riverside city college RN program this September for Spring 2017. Let's all get together on this thread and share experiences as well as answer questions. I know the application period is 6 months away, but it will be here before you know it!

I applied to Chaffey and RCC. My first choice is RCC though! How about everyone else?

Is it true that Chaffey wants students to come in at least 6 weeks in advance to have transcripts evaluated to apply to the program? Also, can the math calculations for health care professionals class be in progress upon applying?

Can I just drop off transcripts tomorrow and apply? Or must they be evaluated weeks in advance? That's one of the reasons I was discouraged from applying.

Yeah when you turn in the application, they ask you to submit the paper that you got from the evaluation of your courses. It has all the pre req courses lined up, marked off, with the grade. Probably making it easier on the nursing dept to see everything all cleared and lined up for them. it also has a box marked eligible or ineligible to apply to the nursing program. I haven't taken the health math course, and it says I am eligible so that must mean we can take it later. It's only a one unit course, so it must be no big deal to take during the nursing program. Have you guys heard anything about Chaffey vs RCC?

The first step is to download the application (so you dont have to fill it out twice like i did). Save it i think it is with your first initial, last name and RCC student id. Then fill it out and press the save button again. Then send the application to the school via email. The email address is on the form. Then take your transcripts down to the nursing department. Do that as soon as you submit your application. It takes a while for the transcripts to show in the system. The nursing department will have them evaluated.

Good luck! Hope this helped!

This is very helpful! Much appreciated:)

Also, do you know anything about submitting supporting documents for "Life experiences or special conditions of an applicant" and "Proficiency level course-work in languages other than english"? How do we prove these things?

I was told by the dept you don't have to submit proof for either.

How many days did it take he evaluation department to approve your courses?

Did they approve your courses the same day?

I heard that RCC is the preferred choice over Chaffey only because Chaffey's RN program has some bad reviews.

How do you know for sure how many points you have prior to the TEAS test, aside from calculating it yourself? Do they confirm how many points you have after the application/evaluation period?
