Rio Hondo Spring 2018

Published

Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am interested in applying to rio hondo for spring 2018 and so I was wondering if anyone else might be applying there as well? I am planning on taking the TEAS exam really soon and hopefully we can help each other and answer any questions that each one of us might have and we could answer them on this page.

Sorry Joanna, I'm a "newish" member so direct messaging isn't available to me for whatever reason.lol but to answer your question about scheduling, here's what I was gonna send:

Hello! They have a few different schedules you actually get to choose from. In the beginning, it'll be whoever completes and turns in all of their paperwork (ie physical, vaccinations, etc.) first, will get first pick. My schedule right now looks like this:

Monday: Pharm Lecture: 8-9:40, MedSurg Lec: 10-12:15

Wednesday: Pharm Lab: 8-9:40, MedSurg: 10-12:15, Sim Lab: 1-4pm

Friday: clinical site: 6:30am-6:30pm

Seems like a lot, but totally do able. I'm working full time. Yup! 40 hours a week! Lol but I'm making it work. It's not as bad as others make it seem. A lot of us are working. What I love about Rio (and what most of the instructors agree with) is that they really emphasize the importance of hands on experience. Less paper work, more patient interaction. They throw us right in there and things make much more sense when you get to see things first hand. It's been great.

Hope this eases your concerns a bit. =)

It took about 3 weeks to hear back. They literally emailed everyone at 5pm on the very last day that they told us to expect a response. So don't hold your breath. Lol

That is SO informative! Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate it.

Wooooo. Now I feel good then if that many people are working FT then hopefully I can be one that does too.

Hi guys! I just applied to Rio hondo ADN program for this spring. I'm excited yet nervous...

my stats:

Science gpa: 3.67

Overall gpa: 3.48

Teas: 66%

First generation

Need to work

Difficult family circumstances

Disadvantaged educational environment

Financial aid

And 201 volunteer hours.

My test score is not so great but hope all the extra stuff makes up for it :-)

Oh and I have an associates degree

So I took my application this morning! I'm excited but also nervous the lady there said they would email the second week of October (soon!)

Does anyone know how many points are awarded for all the "extra" things such as difficult life struggles?

I only had 1, need financial aid :/

Nope @araceli24 nobody knows but them í ½í¸… Goodluck to us !!

Hello everyone, I applied for Spring 2018.

I am so nervous since I don't have any life experience.

No volunteer hours, no need to work, not even a first generation going to college :(

I have 4.0 GPA in Science Classes.

Cumulative GPA is 3.90

TEAS 70.0%

AA degree

I also applied to PCC and GCC.

I am expecting to hear from those schools around mid October.

I have not received an notify email that they received my application.

Good luck for everyone!

I also applied to pcc and haven't heard anything from them :/

Good luck!

Hello Araceli24,

The RN admission at PCC is kinda messed up.

The deadline of last admission on the website was wrong.

I went there to ask them but they did not know that it was wrong!

They did not even fix it after they knew it.

That forced me to go take TEAS test right after my finals.

(I had Physio, Micro and History for my final).

That is why I did not score well for the first attempt.

Luckily I passed.

Other than that: Their application needed to be up date, and again...They did not even want to fix it when many things on the application were wrong.

Hopefully we hear something from them soon.

Good luck to you too!

Yeah, PCC's website is all messed up on the dates. The application period for Spring 2018 was july 1st - August 1st but their website used to say June 1 - July 1st. Now it says Oct 1st - Oct 31st...

Yeah I noticed that too.
