Rio Hondo Spring 2018

Published

Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am interested in applying to rio hondo for spring 2018 and so I was wondering if anyone else might be applying there as well? I am planning on taking the TEAS exam really soon and hopefully we can help each other and answer any questions that each one of us might have and we could answer them on this page.

Juliocesarsalad, okay great :) whats the elselvier website?

TEAS Test | Test of Essential Academic Skills | ATI

So I have copied the website for the ATI. You should have a log in from when you took the exam. I know they made us make our own account and you can always contact the website for the log in if you forgot. Good luck :)

Thank you Juliocesarsalad :)

Hello, everyone! I'm a current Rio Hondo ADN Nursing student. 1st year. Took the Fundamentals class in the Summer and currently taking Med/Surg 1 and Pharm. Just wanted to reach out in case anybody had any questions about the program/admission process. Regarding TEAS, if it makes anybody feel better, there are A LOT of students in our program that didn't score well on the test. I scored an 84% and at the time, thought it would barely be good enough to get in because everyone warns you about the competitiveness of the program. Turns out, I had one of the higher scores in my class. Hope that helps ease the stress lol. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Hope to see you guys around campus come Spring!

Hello matt19, I am so glad you can help answer any questions that we might have:) i am so glad you mentioned that about the TEAS because I got a 69%

Not a problem. Two of my classmates even failed and had to complete the remediation plan for the test before retaking. They also added a lot of people from the alternate list. Many reasons to stay positive!

Hey you guys! So I'm getting all my paperwork ready for the bridge application, making sure I am not missing anything and I wanted to share my experience with ATI/ Rio Hondo.

I took my TEAS test at another school and ordered the transcripts to be sent to Rio, when I called RHC to confirm they have received it, both admissions and nursing dept could not locate my TEAS transcripts. I called ATI and they were able to log in to Rios system and confirmed they sent the transcripts and confirmed that they were received by a DCHOW. I sent Chow and email only to find out she no longer works there. Per ATI representative, when transcripts are ordered the recipients information is autopopulated and Rio Hondo hasn't called them to update the recipients information.

I emailed the Dean of nursing and the ATI rep also called and left them a voicemail. So hopefully all that information gets updated so that transcripts can be received by the designated person.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else took their teas test elsewhere. Doesn't hurt to double check Rio received it.

joannavn,LVN omg good thing you called and made sure they had them but I hope it all works out because that is very important. Since I also took the TEAS at another school I just ordered my transcripts to be sent to rio hondo on monday so I am going to call and make sure they have them. Thank you for letting me know :)

Hello joannavn, LVN so after reading about what happened to you I decided to call them and the same thing happened to me :( i called rio hondo adn program and apparently they had not received it and told me to call and double make sure with ATI and i called ATI and they said rio hondo should have my scores but apparently the recipient name of the person who needs to receive them has not been updated and I left a voicemail as well. Have you heard any news?

How do you like the program so far? Are there any students that has failed out already? Is the program as difficult as others have said? (are As attainable?)

The program has been great so far. The hospitals we do clinicals at really give us a lot of freedom when working with patients. Classroom wise, i think the biggest thing to get use to is the testing. The material is fine, can be overwhelming if you don't keep up on the reading, but NCLEX style questions just force you to think a different way. Only 2 or 3 people (out of 100) didn't pass the fundamentals class.
