Hi everyone!

I'm creating this thread for those interested in applying to the Rio Hondo LVN program for Spring 2022.

I'm excited as well, looking ahead I'm trying to plan the requirements in advance. I'll need to find a place close by for the CPR certification. Thank goodness the fire card can be done online

I took my CPR class at Rio in 2019 when I did my CNA course there. Maybe tomorrow they'll let us know if they will offer the class or we have to find a location ourselves. I recently renewed my BLS card. I went to the American Heart Association website and found a class. I paid 60 bucks and was done in 1 day.

I went ahead and created this group ?

I think some people didn’t show up to the meeting and a few people that were alternates might have not accepted

Wow well. That kind of makes me angry and confused because I just signed up to a private school that will start in December and I'm not really sure if I'll get in as an alternate or not so I'm not sure what to do now ?

Do you guys know if there's just one drug test or is there going to be random drug tests throughout the program??? I don't do drugs but I have Prescription medication and I'm scared that they won't except me due to it ?

that is tough yeah it’s hard for the alternates that’s why some people didn’t accept because at Rio those of us in the program we had to pay for castle branch which is where they do the background and drug test and it cost $112 and if you’re an alternate you still have to pay for that and it’s ridiculous because you’re not sure if you’ll get in. so for the drug test im sure you’ll be fine if you have a prescription like I’m sure they’ll ask that and maybe for proof. I think the drug test you fail if they find drugs and you don’t have a prescription for certain ones at least. And I think it’s just the one drug test but im not sure

I was an Alternate and got word today that I made the provisional list. As people don't meet requirements or drop their spots Alternates or people who did make the initial available spots will be contacted to offer available spots. I took CNA course in 2019 and we had only the one initial drug test but I don't know the protocol now.

Thank You, I already ordered uniforms, paid the castle branch fees, paid for flu shot too. I was already 400 bucks deep as an alternate so im super relieved that my spent money won't go to waste. ?

the uniforms were confusing like I ordered it already but we have to go pick them up? And like they didn’t even give an estimate of when they would be ready

Sorry guys one more thing, Is the deadline to get the drug test background check vaccinations all that done December 1 or January 3? Also if we don't have all three hepatitis B shots done yet can we still get in the program? ?
