Rio Hondo College LVN to RN Bridge Program Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone! I applied to Rio Hondo's LVN to RN Bridge Program for Spring 2019 and now I'm anxiously waiting for a response from the school. They said we should hear back by November but the suspense is torturous. I wanted to see how many others have applied and what were your stats? Good Luck!

I had submitted my application to Rio Hondo as well.

Hi mboy_gg!

I've called the nursing department a couple times and they said we will hear back in November. I'm so anxious! My stats are pretty decent and I also have work experience. I'm hoping it's enough. What about you?

Good luck to all of you. Hoping we can be classmates!

Hi pandaeyes,

after i met with the counselor i was confident at first. now, after reading several posts from the others before us, not so much... I have a 4.0 in science, and maybe 3.6-3.8 overall GPA. I got 90 on my TEAS (1st attempt,) working experience, plus foreign language. so, we'll see... i remember when i submitted my application they told me whether we got in or not we'll all received something in the mail? so... we'll see... what's your stats?

Good luck to all of you. Hoping we can be classmates!

Same! I wonder if we'll receive an email/letter by mail by this weekend.

And I totally dig your screen name! Haha

Wow, your stats are great! My stats are pale in comparison to yours. 3.33 in Science, 3.62 overall GPA, second language, and several years of work experience as an LVN. The only thing I am worried about is that I didn't really study for the TEAS. I completely winged it so my score suffered due to that but I am trying my best to remain optimistic.

That being said, I do have a strong feeling that you will be accepted not only based off on your high stats but because male nurses are in high demand. :)

Lol, really? I did not know being a male has its own advantage when it comes to entry selection? I most certainly hope they're much more fairer than that? with that being said, i wish to see all of us during the new student orientation :)

Has anyone heard from them yet?? I think we're suppose to receive a letter or email real soon.

I rushed home from work to check the mail with no news either.

I'm waiting for the open enrollment for Allied School. And if I don't get into Rio then I will also apply to Citrus, PCC, and Mt. Sac. I actually visited GCC and was about to apply but decided to wait on it for now. I think you should contact GCC and ask for an update with the counselor or their Nursing Department. They seem like they are willing to provide an update with applicants unlike others.

I also casually met a counselor at ELAC and dropped off my information at their Nursing Department but they are incredibly vague, unhelpful, and have no real system when it comes to selection like the other schools.

Anyway, I'm hoping we have better news with tomorrow's delivery or by next week!

Yeah, I'm planning on applying County's RN school as well.

I think Citrus doesn't start until next year, they use a similar point system like PCC's old point system (PCC just changed their point system this summer.) GCC is tricky, they use the chancelor's formula much like Rio Hondo, and as long as you have 75 points and score 62% on TEAS you'll enter the lottery pool. (so, it doesn't even matter someone who scores a 90% on TEAS. i'm basically competing with B-average students who got 62% on their TEAS.) I'm not too familiar with Mt. Sac since it's way too far from me.

However, you do wanna meet up with the official nursing conselor from ELAC. As long as you're C average on all of your classes (yep, sciences are included as well,) and you passed your TEAS with 62%, you'll be qualified to be placed on the waiting list. The last time i checked, it's a 3-year waiting list... but, anything can happen at any given time...

I read from another Rio Hondo post that getting a letter in the mail means you got in, an email means no. And instead of rushing home from work, there's actually an app you can download called "informed delivery" from the USPS, this app gives you scans of your daily mail on your smartphone!! And as long as you saw on your phone that you are receiving something in the mail from Rio Hondo that means you're in!!

I hope all of my info helps.
