Hi,
I have not seen a thread for people who applied for the upcoming Summer/fall start at Rio Hondo so wanted to create one. I know the deadline for the applications just passed but feel free to post stats or questions that you may have. Goodluck to everyone :- )
Hi there! I got an email today @ 3pm that I am a provisionally accepted alternate. Does anyone know how likely it is for alternates to get in? I have an AS degree in Allied Health, a 3.67 science GPA since they don’t count Chemistry, & a 3.81 overall GPA. I think @ the time I applied I had 80 hours of volunteering, but I think I instead used my 400 hours of working as a home care aid instead of the volunteer work (can’t remember exactly). I did have 1 category of life experience as well, & could only use my 1st TEAS attempt which was a 76.7 instead of my 2nd higher score of an 82.7.

By the way I had a 2.5 GPA in my BA. I went through alot personally during that time but ended the last several semesters with high grades and got As in my prereqs. For future people who may see this thread, dont let poor grades from your past deter you! Do everything you can to increase your chances.
Praise God. Thankful.
CONGRATS to you! I have a similar story. I did not do well during my undergrad, but improved as time went on. Did my best in my science pre-reqs and got all As. I found out yesterday morning 03/31/2020 via email that I was accepted. I graduated with my BA 2 years ago and now I'm here. So grateful! CONGRATS to all.
Hello everyone! I haven't see this post before. Yesterday I also receive an email that I am in the Alternate list.
I am also grateful that I am in the alternate list. I also got in the alternate list for other school. Now I am worried with the dates, in case I get accepted and I don't have the answer for the other school.
I was wondering for who got accepted, what is the date you have to decide for sure if you will be attending the program?
In case they ask an answer before the other schools you applied give you answer, what would you do? I am not sure how it works..
CONGRATS to everyone that receive an email, and for who did not receive yet, I will keep my fingers crossed.

I don't think there would be any repercussions given you wouldn't be in their program. If anything it would create an opening for an alternative, though they're have shorter notice.
CONAH is my first choice but I won't hear back from them till around May 15th. So I may well tentatively accept a spot at Rio (assuming I'm accepted, which still hasn't happened ?).
I'm so excited I got my email that I'm accepted into the program. Rio is not my 1st choice but until other schools send out info I will be taking my spot. I was looking for something a little closer to me but it only 40min drive. Other schools like Santa Monica which was one of my top choices has canceled admission for fall and will be putting apps over into Spring admission. I don't want to miss out on the opportunity I'm just so excited I got.
My stats
Science GPA 4.0
Overall GPA 3.6
TEAS 83
CNA over 2000 hours
need to work

CONGRATS! Great stats. WOW!! they canceled admissions? Does that mean they won't be open at all in the fall ?? I really hope that does not happen to us. I am very curious what will happen to our Summer courses with what is happening. They are supposed to start June 1. Hopefully this will all be explained at our meeting.
Edit: I just read on Santa Monica's site that they have 3 confirmed cases. If they take more drastic measures I would imagine that's why.

Yikes! I hope that we will start in Summer, but if we have to wait until fall, I won’t mind. I’d rather be safe and healthy than possibly dead.

Looks like checking my email every 15 minutes is what I'll be doing for the rest of the week. I didn't have much going for me other than:
-2 A's and a B for the prereqs
-3.83 overall GPA
-90 on the TEAS,
-200+ volunteer hours
I don't have any degrees, am not bilingual, don't have work experience, and didn't write a personal letter (kicking myself for that). So I'm hoping I hear back, but we'll see.
CONGRATS to those of you who've been accepted though. It's an interesting time to be starting a program.
