WELCOME HOME!!!!
HOW WAS YOUR FIRST DAY???????
DETAILS... DETAILS.... DETAILS!
WOW I had two easy days! Monday was my first 2 nursing classes that last 8 weeks and then today was A&Pll and we got a little done in that. My second nursing class was suppose to be 2 hours only lasted one and we covered very little material we are having a test but she said we can't study for it. The test is to mainly see what we already know....... I thought my program was hard but you guys started out a lot harder than me. WELL GOOD LUCK ALL lets keep the support coming everyone and Thanks for it
Rhonda
HI!!
sorry for the delay!...Monday's are rough for me...I start at 9am and go till 9:30 pm with just enough time in between to grab a quick bite to eat and let my poor pup out after dinner and before A&PII. Phew...I was exhausted yesterday, and to top it off I had a group project on transcultural nursing in relation to Native Americans due today. You think they'd let you at least stick your toe in to feel the temp before making you jump right in! Sheesh! LOL. Anyway, my first day went fine. I had three classes (Health Assessment, Foundations of nursing practice, and A&PII) and already have well over a hundred pages to read before next week. It's kind of sad though...I keep waiting for the weeding process to finally work...you know the classes get harder and the ubnoxious dumb people go away...well they're still there! Cell phones ring, people walking in late, and the annoying "band camp" stories still continue! Oh well...I guess that's life!
On a positive note...my A&P teacher rocks! Most of the students gave him a really hard time (it's his first day and he has an accent) but I find him to be infinately better than my A&PI teacher. This guy actually has handouts and uses an overhead! Can you believe it!?!
Anyway, first week down...so far so good!

Today was my first day and it went very smoothly! We were given a 60 page syllabus and the complete schedules for the courses. I really liked the instructors who were very helpful and encouraged us to ask questions and visit them during their office hours. Forgot to mention that our first test is scheduled for next week! It should be pretty easy though.
Today was my second day of class. We had a med. terminology homework two weeks prior to class starting and 3 chapters to read.
All of our notes are given to us by the teacher. A different teacher lectures every day. The syllabus is 400 pages long and cost $25. It contains everything you need to know. For some reason, I am comfortable with this and am not feeling overwhelmed at all. I am highly organized, but those are not are constantly lost. My study buddy is a cool 58 yr old lady and a 40 yr old lady.
We did glove and handwashing skills in the lab...simple stuff.
Clinicals start next month.
Maybe it is the quiet before the storm....
Hey Bean, I have a A&P 2 lab test. Ms.Sasnow is really cool. She is not as bad as everyone says she is. Well I also have a Nursing Assessment reading and family assessment assignment due next Wednesday... My Fundamentals of Nursing class Nur 105 is with Holly Janssen the LPN program director. She is very boring, but I am going to stick it out,and drain her for all of her knowledge.
My classes are hopefully getting better. So let me go so I can get my study on...

Hello, I guess I was so busy freaking out over the first day I forgot to check out the forum and let everyone know. Well, the first day was quite long... I went to three classes. I got three long lectures about what they expect, and of course then the lecture started. We took five pages of notes in my Foundations of nursing practice class. My Professional development class was long and mentally exhausting.. We broke up in groups and discussed our similarities and differences... I was the focus of difference, because I was the only male in the class.
I will say that I am excited about starting the program. I have talked to so many people who didn't get accepted, and it makes me feel real special. I thank God to be one of the few who got in. We had 200 apply, and only 90 got in. At orientation it seemed to be less than 90 in attendance. Quite scary I say... well I better get to studying I have a test on Monday, and I better get a head start.
