  1. Hello I may be ridicously late but I just stumbled across this post. Here is the link to the webinar: http://healthinformatics.uic.edu/health-care-it-industry-career-strategies/
  2. :smokin:Hello all haven't posted in quite awhile. I have been a nurse for almost two years. I have been in ICU since graduating nursing school. I actually have been in a surgical heart ICU for 1 1/2 years. I know ICU is not far from ER nursing, but I want to know which way I should go about switching specialties?
  3. Well CCU NRS, that is my nick name I was given at my gym. I bench press well over 400lbs,and a competitive power-lifter. I just love the sound of them plates bangin'. Weight plates that is.
  4. Well I will say thank you too all who replied. I really needed the good words. I will do better. I just started reading " You are smarter than you think" book. It is excellent. I already feel better.I suggest it to all. Everyone have a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
  5. 1. School: South Suburban College 2. ADN 3. Second semester starts Jan.20,2004 4. 90 students ADN, 64 LPN. Not sure on how many continued. I knew of many who did not pass. In my foundations class 5 didn't pass. There are approx. 7 men I am included in that number. We are totally spoiled by the instructors and other students. You got to have alot of courage and heart to make it at my school looks like. Don't be scared to ask for help, and please don't wait till you are too far gone to ask.
  6. Thanks trauma r us. I am 30 years young, and got a heck of a wake up call. Thanks for the support, and the very encouraging words. I will head them.
  7. Well I did it. I passed my first semester of nursing school. I am in a 2 year ADN program. I really studied and had problems in my Foundations class all semester long. I got a 74,74,82,74,76. My final grade was 77.95, which they rounded up to 78%.78% is needed to pass at my school. I passed but I don't feel that good. I almost want to cry. I barely made it. Many of my classmates feel I should be happy, and just do better next time. I will say that my particular program is not very supportive, and is very unorganized. mow back to me. I will admit I was lazy at times, but for the most part I studied and read the required readings. We got near the end and we got into bowel and urinary elimination and pain. These were very challenging, One particular teacher was very hard. Alot of nursing diagnosis questions which we didn't really see all semester. I am very upset and a little discouraged. I know I really want to be a nurse, and I am detemined to do it. I have had a rough past, but a promissing future. I am a above the knee amputee and osteo sarcoma survivor. I feel like I have to do this for me,and the patients I will oneday take care of. I am scared, and would love any remarks anyone may have positive or negative. Of course people fail, but I do not want to be the one to fail.
  8. Well all I can say is great things about the place. I have been going to Rush since I was 12. I was diagnosed with osteo sarcoma, and went through chemo, and all there. Such caring and compassionate people. I am currently an above knee amputee, and a 1st semester ADN nursing student. They have great people(nurses, doctors, support staff) Hell everybody there. So you ask about the program. It is one of the best in the area.I have every intention on applying to work at Rush after I get my ADN. Yes they will pay for school. My doctors have all told me to definitely give Rush a chance. So I say to you GO FOR IT!!! RUSH is the bomb!!!
  9. Well I better jump on board, far south burbs. Born in Chicago and I love the CUBS!!!!
