Eleven years ago I passed Microbiology. The program at the university I'm enrolled in offers the choice of Microbiology or Infectious Disease. If you retake Micro it will lower your GPA. I could always take Infectious Disease since I have never taken it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In your position I would take infectious disease. Micro is applicable to nursing, but ID and understanding that specific process would be more valuable to you. JMO

Infectious disease. No guarantee it will be easier than micro but at least it is relevant to nursing.
My general micro course was ridiculously hard AND ridiculously pointless. I would have traded it for ID in a heartbeat.

Only thing I would make sure of is how long ago they give you credit for a course. In my program, the core pre-reqs (A&P, Micro) have to be taken within 7 years to count. I took all 3 last summer and fall, and honestly, I think that Micro is not as useful as A&P. Granted, the focus on cellular functions is a help, especially when you start getting into drug/cell interactions, but they spend so much time on "bugs" that you may never have much use for. Infectious diseases sounds like more fun to me.
