I know I am way ahead of the game but I wanted to start this thread early so we could have some time to share pointers and tips we have collected along the way concerning this course. Maybe we can make it a little less stressful by trying to be as prepared as we can!!
I am praying already for a good group! It helps to have all this support!! We have made it this far!
They determine groups alphabetically--they go down the roster and every 6-7 names were broken off into a group.
Surprisingly, my group had 3 psych nurses. Now if I could only take those odds and apply them to the lottery...
Well even if we don't get the best group we will make it through together!! We can come here to vent and cry as much as we need ; )
Yes, we will hang in there together. I think all this support throughout the program has been awesome! This is my last class before the Capstone in September. Already applied for graduation and that was the best $40 I feel I have spent so far :)
I know this is not about research, but wondered if any of you could give me some insight into the literature classes. Should I take British or American. How to they compare in difficulty say to our nursing classes and/or history. Thanks for any input and still nervous about starting Research!!! I am going to try and not think about school for a few weeks.
I took American Literature. My experience was similar to focusport above, who took British Literature. We had several papers and reading, reading, and more reading.
I imagine they're very similar classes with just a different base of material. Do you think you'd rather read Shakespeare or Kate Chopin?
I chose American Literature because I dislike having to translate and guess at what older British writers meant. The language has changed a lot. Early American writers, on the other hand, used an English that any modern English speaker can understand, although some words may be used somewhat differently. That was my deciding factor and I don't regret it.

Research is the bane of UTA's RN to BSN program, literally. This was most definitely my worst experience with a class. It seems you either have highly neurotic partners or non-existent partners to work with. I'm really not sure why they allow the class to continue in its present state - and the technology issues with the OOH's are unforgivable. Really, just read your assigned chapters, listen to the OOH's, and divide your assignments up at least by the previous weekend's end.
And prepare for a 30+ final APA research paper... as a group. Jeez.
