Report DON for illegal drug use

This DON works at a small assisted living facility. How do i report her illegal drug use when she is in authority and the admin may even cover for her. This DON may even be the person who drug tests other employees! What about the board of directors. I would like to inform them there is a person of authority there using drugs. How is this done, so she cant be warned and escape detection. I fear for the safety of a family member residing there. There has to be a way to get this woman fired and license yanked. I want to handle this carefully so there is no cover up by the admin or the board, and she is removed. And yes, companies cover up things like this to avoid the consequence of public embarrassment that results in loss of clientel. Please help me!

Sounds like a question for your BON or union rep if you're unionized.

What has she been using, and how did you come to find this out?

Make a complaint to the licensing board in your state. They WILL investigate and decide if disciplinary action is warranted.

I once worked under a DON who was not only actively using community-acquired recreational substances but was already under state disciplinary action for substance abuse and narcotics diversion. Yes! She was hired as DON while her license was being disciplined for drug abuse! Yes! She was obviously still using while her license was being disciplined! She was murder to work with, too. Imagine having the most florid schizo-manic-depressive in the history of psychiatry as the leader and primary decision maker for your department, and you'll have an idea of what working under her was like. Holy crap!

She used to tells us "The state wants my license!" and explain the problem. And she'd laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

But some people just talk, and laugh, too much, you know? One day, she was gone. So was her license. They pulled her in for a surprise witnessed void, and they got her. Thank you, state licensing board!

The administrator who hired her as DON was gone soon after, compliments of the profoundly embarrassed and now compromised local corporate director.

Are you suggesting that this DON has been diverting drugs and/or is impaired at the workplace? Is her social behavior affecting her work performance.? If not, how do you have this information?. These are very serious allegations you are making, do you have evidence?

Maybe you could report it to the police?

1. Move the family member to another facility now.

2. For use, possession or distribution of illegal drugs call the police.

3. To get her "fired and license yanked", proof the above or become her boss.

You see where I'm going with this?

There is enough. There is an accusation of malfeasance, and that will be enough for the licensing board to initiate an investigation. THEY will decide what if anything needs to be done, and THEY will do it.
