Hello
I have read through threads here about those who have repeated their RN boards...Why is it harder to pass n-clex rn the second time around then it is for those who take it the first time??....I have noticed that those who take it the first time get tested on the same topic...i would like to know from those who have taken it more than once if they found the test to be similar to the first time they took it?..its scary to read that if you take it the second time theres a bigger chance of you not passing this...im curious as to why this is?...is it b/c the student is under more pressure or does n-clex just makes it that much harder to pass?

I think there is a misunderstanding regarding this issue. It's somewhat incorrect to say students who fail have a harder time the second time around. It's not that is harder the second time, the test does not change in difficulty (it might change the type of questions) so it can't be harder. What probably happens is that if you fail one time it means that you are "at risk" for failing, so the feeling one has that it's "harder" is that you still have not achieved the passing standard so you think you are somewhat doing worst. The truth is that you are progressing towards that passing standard if you keep you head up and keep trying. So until you pass there is a impression you are not passing because it's becoming harder but it's just because you don't know how far you are and that produces anxiety. Ounce you pass you'll see that it wasn't a big deal.

Many people do not study effectively for the second or subsequent test because they tend to skip over areas that they think they know. It has always been advised to study as if one had never tested before so that the mind does not trick you into thinking you know more than you really do.
