Renewing US RN license

I passed NCLEX 4 years ago so my license is due for renewal, which I am unable to do online because I am still in the UK. Has anyone else renewed their licence from overseas? Is it possible to renew if you have not been able to start the visa process because of retrogression?

Have you tried contacting the BON? I know the time I had to contact them via email for verification to Canada, even though I hadn't worked there, they replied quickly

Yes, have emailed them and awaiting a response, was just wondering if anyone knew. Luckily I have a good contact within the BON because of all the issues I had first time around! Just hoping that you can renew from abroad, my RN status says inactive whereas yours says expired, did you ever renew it or did you just let it elapse? So do they take NCLEX into consideration for Canada..... will have to message you!

Catch me on FB, am at work at the moment but if you want me to ring you I can do so tomorrow ( due to time difference won't be home until 12 your time)We decided the US was not for us once we arrived in Canada so just let License expire although with working I shouldn't have issues renewing it. No they don't take NCLEX into consideration you still have to sit CRNE which I found better than NCLEX

Hi Silverdragon102,

I am due to renew my license in the US as well, however, they have reminded me that I should have my US SSN by 2015 should I want to renew again. The thing is, the retrogression has been on-going for years, which has stalled the processing of my USVisa c/o an employer. While waiting, I found a way to go to Canada as a permanent resident.

I would still want to keep my USRN license, should the event come that I will be able to work there. Do you think it is still worth keeping it? If I let my license expire, will I still be able to revive it? I find it a waste of money to be renewing it now, when eventually I won't be able to do so because non-existence of SSN. What do you think?
