I choose to not renew mine after becoming an LPN. I do keep my LPN license current though now that I am an RN. For me becoming a CNA wasn't much effort so I didn't care about loosing the certification. But becoming an LPN did take effort. Even though I will never work as an LPN again, I don't want to let the license go!

I'm curious why you would need to keep the LPN? You'll keep your RN current, right? So why the LPN as well? I have my PBT certification and CNA cert and am starting LPN next week. Do you think there's any reason to keep my PBT current? I think in order to do that I have to have actual employment as a phlebotomist, so that may not be possible.

One RN told me that she kept her LPN just in case she wasn't able to work as an RN. This particular nurse had a legal problem that was eventually cleared up. The nurse intimated that she worked as an LPN during this time. MY QUESTION is, if your RN license is suspended, wouldn't that affect your LPN license too? ?????
