  2. well im not contracted to do certain hours, or on a salary, i talked to one of my co-workers, she said that i have to work 6 CONSECUTIVE days for them to consider the 6th to be overtime. i dont know, im confused =(
  3. nice find ! thanKs for posting these stuff .
  4. sup all, i started working in NH 2 months ago (first LVN job ) my first two paychecks were fine, but when i got my 3rd paycheck, i thought to myself theres something wrong with this ! cuz i put in 104 hours that pay period, and it says on my paycheck : Regular Hours 95 Overtime 9 in my understanding it is considered overtime if u work more than 80 hours. so i shouldve got like 24 hours overtime pay? so i talked to our payroll and she said that she only handles the regular time, that if its overtime its ADP who handles it, and our DSD cant explain the matter to me. does this happened to anyone yet ? or theres a good explanation for this ?
  5. Ive been working as LVN for just 2 months, and im thinking of starting the 30 unit option offered here in California .but i have to start from zero though(no pre-reqs at all ) cuz my credits had expired already I know peeps will tell me its only for state of CA, you cant have an admin position, its only a certificate, or its too ealry to pursue it, or you always take the easy route blah blah... for me its all good ! IMO theres not much diff. whether its ADN,BSN or just RN certificate. they all have R.N licenses. agree ? or not.... the thing is im not sure what steps im gonna take first. or things to consider and stuff So if ur a graduate of either Cerritos, Cypress Compton Colleges your advice would be very helpful with my decision and anyone whos reading this, any advice/comment would be appreciated ! TY
  6. hey ya ! i have lippincott, mosby's, saunder's comprehensive and Q & A, and MEDSPUB NCLEX PN but my advice is not to study them all ! just pick 2-3 CD's to concentrate on so wont get confused, questions are repeated over and over again anyways, the idea is to get used to answering questions on pc, and develop ur critical/analytical thinking skills ! GL
  7. Good day my fellow nurses ! i was hired to my first nursing job Monday, and started orientation Tuesday-until just tomorrow,Thursday(3 days orientation ), then probably have 2 days off then ill come back to work on my own with 28 - 30 pt's. I can say im not a slow learner but from passing meds to doing PAPERWORKS,calling pharmacy, taking TO from physician, lab works, understanding pt's behavior, dealing with the "team" and hundreds more of responsibility in an 8 hour shift is kind of OVERWHELMING and STRESSFUL(im stressed ATM just thinking about it) and i can see the margin of error is probably high at this point. So any advice, comment, suggestions would be appreciated. How can i pass meds more effectively, tips when talking to physician, and to make my job simpler and having fun working, etc...... PS - can nurses get away with tickets if threyre wearing a uniform and theres a stethoscope hanging from rear view mirror ?jk -bamboo[zled]
  8. hey guys ! I graduated October of last year the program was sponsored by LA county and a nursing home they paid all of my school expenses in exchange of working for them for a year, now that i passed my boards, they want me to apply to this nursing home as a CNA while waiting for my "actual license"...but ill probably receive my license 5-6 weeks from now cuz they said that they gonna mail the $100 check together with license my application on Feb 15-ish i couldve pay the fee out of my own pocket to have my license sooner but im broke =( Anyways i dropped by to a NH near my place(not the one who sponsored me) the DON agreed to train me as LVN even if i dont have the actual license yet Now heres my dilemma: Should i work as CNA while waiting for my license(5 - 6 weeks =() , or as LVN even though i dont have my actual license yet? is that legal ? any suggestions ? thanks for the help guys ! BTW great forum !!!! -bamboo
