Hello Everyone,

I am starting the post for anyone applying to Remington College of Nursing for the 2nd Degree Accelerated Bachelors of Nursing program in Lake Mary Florida. If you currently or previously attended RCON will join is as well.

I feel the same way. Melissa said that they had more applicants for early acceptance for January 2015 than usual. Maybe they are not aware of this forum. I met a lady in walmart this week who got in for July 2014 but ended up going to Nova Southeastern (27 month program). She says that quite a few people turn down their acceptance because Remington does not have SACS accreditation yet. More space for us :)

Agreed! Didn't you say that the accrediting people are meeting with them to get their regional accreditation? Do you know any more about this??

Melissa said that they were working on it and that it would not be an overnight process.

Gotcha! But even if they get it after we graduate it doesn't matter! It will still be seen that we graduated from a regionally accredited college! I want to go on and get a higher degree but I'm sure that I'll be able to get in somewhere in KY.

I'm sure that you will. There are many state schools that will accept you with national accreditation and the one's that prefer regional accreditation will make case by case exceptions if you have a stunning profile! I just spoke with a friend who went to Remington. She said that classes start very late in January and that some late applicants get acceptance as late as the week before classes start. We are in October now so I hope that we get final acceptance no later than mid december because we both need to move. I think that I am going to move to Heathrow. It's pretty close to the campus and really beautiful. The apartments are a bit expensive though $1,300 for a 2 bedroom and Colonial Grand at Heathrow, but it's only one year so I can bear it.

I don't know if I will be able to move in time if I don't get accepted in early acceptance... it will be really hard. I will be moving with my boyfriend so he needs to be able to have time to transfer jobs. Luckily, both jobs that he works at have places hiring right now in the Lake Mary area but we just really need time for that to happen. I think that we are going to be moving to Sun Lake apartments. Mainly because I have a large (90 lb) golden retriever and that apartment complex does not have a weight limit and has a pet salon and pet park on site!

Hi girls. Oh my goodness, thank you for your post. I am no nervous, I don't know what to do. I received an email that I didn't have a good science GPA, and that I should retake a course to raise it. I am sad because there is not enough time. The email also said though that I would be receiving a phone interview, and I take my TEAS on Oct 31 so I hope to just nail that. Have you heard of anyone still getting in with poor overall science GPA, or should I count myself out? My overall GPA is like a 3.4 or better, but I had a bad year with micro and A and P, all at the same time. I think I ended up with all C's. It's kind of embarrassing... I left Melissa a message but I am unsure if I am already cut.

Hi! I have seen some people posting that they got in with a low science gpa but they have excelled in other areas such as experience or an overall gpa... but the minimum gpa requirement for science is a 2.75 and overall gpa is a 2.5. If you can nail the science portion on the TEAS i think that might help some too. Do you have any healthcare experience?

oh, also does anyone know when they are going to be conducting these phone interviews?? I work in the ER and we don't get very good service down here, so I just don't want to miss the call to schedule a time. thanks!

Ok, thanks for saying that. Yes, I think I have a strong resume. I've been in cardiac rehab and cardiac stress testing for the past five years which made me want nursing. I left for more emotional reasons and went on to get a masters in counseling and did well grade-wise, but I hate the work. I tried to make that sound more professional in my application, of course. But I think my letters and resume are strong, and I still have the TEAS and hopefully an interview. It sounds like I don't make the 2.75 though and so I am upset, I really thought I did.

They also include Stats and english and psych into the science grade if you did better in those! and chemistry grade is not counted against you!

Oh, she said they didn't. She said it was the pre-req science course; A&P I and II, chemistry and microbiology classes with labs. She mentioned that I could re-take any of these courses, and they would count the higher. That is confusing.

Ok thank you, when I talk to her I will clarify how this was calculated.
