REJECTED for OLOL accelerated East Jeff

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hi all. Ive been reading this forum for a while but wasnt prompted to join/post until now. I got my rejection letter yesterday and was very distraught. This is my second time applying to the OLOL accelerated program. I have been taking pre-reqs at Delgado for two years and finally finished a couple of weeks ago. I worked so hard to get good grades in all of my classes. I really thought i had a chance. This program would have changed my life. (I also applied to CHarity twice and got rejected for Spring 08 and Fall 08) I am a single mom and work fulltime at an inpt psych unit. My back up plan is to go to LTC in reserve for the LPN program. It seems like im already so past that because of how hard the pre-reqs were for Charity/OLOL. Plus the program is longer. All RNs that talk to me about my futre say not to do an LPN program bc they have never met an LPN that was satisfied to stay at that level. I am debating on waiting and just reapplying for OLOL January-West Jeff. I am calling admissions tomorrow and finding out why i didnt get in and if i ever have a chance. My GPA is 2.7 over all and 3.1 in pre-reqs. It was really nice to read some off yall who have gotten rejected but continued to apply and eventually get it. Also congrats to everyone who has gotten in and about to start!!! I am going to continue to look for new posts daily. I really felt better knowing i am not alone in the rejection boat. Take care everyone!

OMG. you must be right! but i cant guess who you are. congrats for graduating from OLOL!!! its so hard to get in and from what they tell me, they are raising the gpa each semester. i wish they would just let more of us in and let the incompetents flunk out of the first semester if they cant do it. im considering other options out of state (MD) but all schools seem to have the same high gpa standards. glad you are a success and love your job. psych is so underrated!

can you reocate to another program in a different city?? before you apply make sure that they accept each others courses

going the lpn route would be a viable option IF you find that you are going to have problems getting into a rn course

a lpn can graduate and then do the bridge, i agree that if you are going to spend your career then being an rn will open many more doors but getting in will be the problem you can learn a lot being an lpn getting med-surg experience and applying for bridge

good luck

Hi! Were you rejected after an interview with the school? just curious

No, I did not get an interview; just the rejection letter.

I don't know what your doing now but, if you apply to Charity you will most likely get in. I DID NOT get in at first-I applied last Nov. for the spring 09' semester and got a rejection letter in June. I only passed my TEAS test by 2 points and my average is fair- mostly C's. THE DAY I got my letter I drove to Charity to find out why I didn't get in and she said that they stopped taking people who scored below a 35 on the "point scale". X said I scored a 34.5!! She put me on a "wait/hold" list and I called and emailed (basically stalked) her at least 6 times over the past few months. I got in!! She called me a week before this semester started- my point is BE PERSISTANT! Good Luck! :nurse:

By the way, you get a WHOLE EXTRA 10pts. if you have your bachleor's degree and and extra 10pts. if you are finished ALL A&P's and Micro. She showed me the point scale and how it works.

Thanks for your input. I also talked to Ms. X who reviewed that list of points. My downfall was basically GPA (due to my two horrible post-katrina semesters) and i hadnt finished apII lab & micro. which i took this summer. now im retaking stuff i got d's in to raise my gpa. I have an awesome TEAS score, and a bachelors degree, and finished all the pre-reqs. I supposed they are still reviewing the applications that were due on 8/31 for the fall 09. I expect letters will go out soon. Thanks again for the info and support. I will keep the forum posted.

It stinks, but I believe letters do not go out until around Christmas (they said on or around December 20th). If someone knows that this has changed, please feel free correct me. Such a long wait! I sent in my application at the beginning of August. I'll start counting down the days later this month :D. Good luck to you and to everyone else waiting to find out about Fall '09 acceptance!

Hey you may want to try Southeastern's Nursing Program. They only count your last grade in a class. Their accelerated program is BSN though. Also what you may want to do is find some good letters of recommendation like doctors, teachers, etc because I got into the BR accelerated program and I had a similar GPA as you.

Ok, this really scares me I am currently applying for the Sept 2009 class at olol ej. Did you ever get in? Did they tell you why you didn't get into the program? What were they expecting? UGHHHHH

Please tell me you finally got an acceptance letter. I am applying for the sept class at ej this year and I am scared to death that I won't get in...

I would not worry about it. I got my letter of acceptance from OLOL about 3 months after I got my letter from Southeastern and that was in March. I would not worry about it until May. I am sure you will get in somewhere. I felt the same way. Good Luck!! I hope you get in!!!
