Hi all. Ive been reading this forum for a while but wasnt prompted to join/post until now. I got my rejection letter yesterday and was very distraught. This is my second time applying to the OLOL accelerated program. I have been taking pre-reqs at Delgado for two years and finally finished a couple of weeks ago. I worked so hard to get good grades in all of my classes. I really thought i had a chance. This program would have changed my life. (I also applied to CHarity twice and got rejected for Spring 08 and Fall 08) I am a single mom and work fulltime at an inpt psych unit. My back up plan is to go to LTC in reserve for the LPN program. It seems like im already so past that because of how hard the pre-reqs were for Charity/OLOL. Plus the program is longer. All RNs that talk to me about my futre say not to do an LPN program bc they have never met an LPN that was satisfied to stay at that level. I am debating on waiting and just reapplying for OLOL January-West Jeff. I am calling admissions tomorrow and finding out why i didnt get in and if i ever have a chance. My GPA is 2.7 over all and 3.1 in pre-reqs. It was really nice to read some off yall who have gotten rejected but continued to apply and eventually get it. Also congrats to everyone who has gotten in and about to start!!! I am going to continue to look for new posts daily. I really felt better knowing i am not alone in the rejection boat. Take care everyone!
Have you heard anything yet? How is you gpa? We need to keep in touch for sure
I'm not sure how they average it. My Cumulative was 3.621 before prereqs. I needed 6 prereqs; So far I have 3As, 2Bs & I have 1 class to take in Summer (A/P 2). I have an A&P lab though that was required by Delgado which I made a C in, so I don't know if they will figure that in. I hope it's high enough. Also, I have no healthcare experience, so hopefully that won't mess me up, but I did a volunteer application for EJ just to get a shoe in and hopefully I'll be starting that for one shift a week over the summer. I haven't heard a thing from OLOL yet. I have a class w/ 2 other people who applied to the same program and they haven't heard anything either. I don't even think Tulane students have their answers yet and I think their deadline was Jan 31! We could email admissions and ask if the committee for EJ has met yet...?

I have also applied to EJ for Fall 09. If I don't get in, then I will try to make it into West Jeff. We should stay in touch...Also, I read in an earlier post that some people got letters in August for EJ. Do they really make you wait til the month before the semester starts before letting you know if you are in? Just wondering how people with kids are making arrangements? I guess I ought to start preparing. I was hoping for a yes/no/maybe by the end of May. Any veterans care to comment on this? Thanks!
