Registered Nurse Interview (Due ASAP)

Published

Hi, I'm taking an intro nursing course before I apply next year, where we're required to interview a registered nurse to complete our assignment. I would be very grateful if you lovely ladies and gentlemen could assist me. I misinterpreted the assignment and thought any licensed nurse would do, but turns out it was specifically for RN's. Again, I'd be oh so thankful for your time in responding to these questions.

1. How long have you been a registered nurse?

2. In what area of nursing do you currently work?

3. How long have your worked in this area?

4. What are the most rewarding aspects of this job?

5. Why did you choose to become a nurse?

6. What is the most frustrating aspect of your work?

7. Do you recommend nursing as a career? Why or why not?

8. What suggestions do you have for people beginning a career in nursing?

If you have no interest in assisting me then why give commentary? Are people typically this facetious here because of the lack of tangible report?

I moved across the country before beginning my RN to BSN bridge program online. My first assignment was to interview an RN that completed an RN-to-BSN bridge program. I put on business casual wear, and walked into not two, but three different hospitals before someone would give me the time of day.

I came very close to offering to assist you via skype video chat considering the fact that I once was in a similar situation. (Yes – even though we have not established tangible” rapport) Unfortunately, your mini hissy fit convinced me not to. Good luck with your assignment.

I don't mean any disrespect to RNinIN, but it is academic dishonesty to affirm that your source is an RN when you have no way of knowing that.

No, I'm not an RN , but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.....:Evil-Pumpkin: Really, although I've been a RN for many years, FutureJoy, you cannot verify that ANY of us are who we claim to be....for all you know, I'm a circus clown claiming to be a nurse....th?id=OIP.Med14cecdac78530ab68ccc38b24e1237H0&pid=15.1&rs=1&c=1&qlt=95&w=77&h=101

On the point about non-nurses (let alone non-RNs) telling people they are nurses when they are not, I just finished with a patient...he told me he worked "in healthcare". Oh, what do you do? "I help physicians and nurses get their jobs done". Umm...ok....are you a nursing aide? "I'm like a medical coder".

Now this is getting tiresome. So I ask "you are LIKE a medical coder? What is it that you do, exactly?" Answer: "I enter all the information into the computer".

That's right: he's a data entry clerk. But to have him tell it, he's "in healthcare" and is vital in assisting physicians and nurses with their work. OH, and the best part? On the form he had to complete for me, it described his occupation as "Healthcare Professional".

Any questions??

Anytime anyone tells me they're a healthcare professional, I automatically knock 20 points off their IQ, downgrade their reputation in my mind a bit, and take no heed to any opinion they share. Nurses call themselves nurses. Physicians call themselves physicians or doctors. Physical therapists call themselves PT's or physical therapists. RD's call themselves dietitians or nutrionists. Speech language pathologists call themselves speech therapists. See a trend? Unlicensed personal who want to make themselves sound more important or knowledgeable than they are call themselves healthcare professionals.

I hope some of you aren't representive of my future colleagues, because as I gathered from the initial responses I'll take this as an unreliable source. I'm thankful for the earlier commentary that treated me as I came however. The rest is just filled with a bunch of walking burn outs who should maybe consider a different venue to vent your lives frustrations. I have no need to continue explaining myself to trolls. And a cheater? Don't flatter yourself, if you know people like that you should check your own accountability... Not to offend but some of you are really out of touch with the state of today's classroom to be honest. Nothing within the questions asked is that much of a feat. If I was a dishonest person I wouldn't ask anyone, I'd make something up. Thankfully I was able to web cam a friends relative who is a nurse to complete my paper. So I'll look at this as a social experiment and make sure I never use or take another professors recommendation pertaining to this place.

Literally, you are here venting your "lives" frustrations.

Don't flatter yourself, if you know people like that you should check your own accountability...

I have no idea what you are saying here. If I know a cheater, it's MY accountability that's in question???

I just graduated last year. Unless I just stepped into a Delorean with a flex capacitor, I'm pretty sure I know how it works. Social media is not a reliable source, and we were trying to stop you from making a mistake. Not one single one of my professors would have accepted a social media site as a source for anything, unless I was writing specifically about social media.

Thankfully I was able to web cam a friends relative who is a nurse to complete my paper.

Ironically, it is very possible that your instructor reads this website. If you took those questions word for word, they will recognize their own assignment.

Every person here (including me) who recommended you speak with a person that you connected with outside of social media was actually trying to help you. I do understand that it is frustrating to be met with resistance. This is to your benefit, though.

I'm glad you were able to get a "face to face" interview.

Before you go name calling and accusing, realize that some of us are or recently have been educators, so maybe not so out of touch. If I found one of my previous students getting their answers for an interview from an online entity, with no way to verify interviewee identity, it would have been a fail....so leave your righteous indignation at the door. No one belittled you, they just suggested the obvious. In fact multiple threads about this subject recently posted on here regarding this very concern, if you had attempted to search. Some of us were poking fun at each other, hence using the quote feature. If you are this flustered over this small matter, wait until you get into real world nursing. Its not all sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns!
