Regis College Online FNP

Published

Hi everyone. I got accepted into Regis College's online FNP for Summer 2017. Will start May 1st! Anybody who has attended Regis on campus or is currently attending their online NP? I know this is probably their second year to offer the online however I want to know how were your experience with them. Thanks!

I attended Regis for their on campus FNP and graduated a couple of years ago. It's not the best program, not the worst. If you are able to keep up and and complete all the work, you will be able to pass the boards very easily. It can be frustrating at times, but looking back, it was a means to an end.

I know that online schools has their downfall. I'm looking into Regis College for either FNP/PNP program. I know you have to find your own preceptor but has anyone had any troubles with finding a preceptor since you are from Regis? I've heard things about Walden so wanted to just make sure.

Thanks,

Ann

I am in the online FNP program. I have had a harder time finding pediatric and women's health preceptors. That being said I still found people. I had the best luck with going through work connections. But actually my best one was a place I emailed and the secretary knew someone.

The faculty at Regis have been great, very supportive always there if I need something via email or phone etc. It's a lot of information to learn, you need to be a motivated learner and take the lead. No one is going to spoon feed you information, but then again when I go see a health provider I want them to be able to be a holistic caregiver who can critically think about me and my health, not just someone who memorized some facts and half read a book :-)

I'm about to apply to regis college for a post masters degree. How many credits will transfer and how is the program. I'm only interested in the adult- geriatric nurse practitioner program.

Hi, I know this is an old thread. I was searching for others who have experience with Regis college's online program as it is fairly new. I am glad to read that you are having a good experience. I am applying to their Post MSN Psychiatric NP program. I have started another Post MSN Psych NP program but the traveling is getting to be much with having to work and I think online would work better for me. How has school continued to go for you at Regis?

Did you apply to regis?

Hello, I am in the online FNP program. I was doing a MSN generalist elsewhere and decided to do this program and was allowed to transfer in 2 classes only, Adv Patho, and Nursing Research. I have done 4 classes so far and it is going well. I have 3 kids and I work 36hrs a week, plus I have a perdiem I pick up here and there. I do plan on scaling back when I start clinicals next semester though...

The professor have been good, when I reach out they respond. I am working on finding preceptors and that is on my own but they say start early and network. Nursing school was very hard but we did it! This is hard to but if you want to you can make it work! That is my belief anyway ? I have cried a few times already hahha, rethought what the heck am I doing.... but I am still in the program. I heard there is a FB group though for the online program, I wish I knew it as I would love to just chat with people about school..

GL everyone!

you can start a whatsapp group ..

I know this is an old thread but I'm looking at Regis for RN-FNP. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I am completing my application for the Women's Health program. I hope to start Summer 2018. I am very encouraged to hear positive remarks about the online NP programs. Can anyone comment on the caliber of their clinical didactic classes? I.e. pharmacology, adv pathophysiology? Thanks

Did our end up getting into the WHNP program? And if so, did you attend and would you recommend the program? I’m interested in applying...

I just finished the FNP program, I transferred in my Adv Patho from another university, but I did take Pharm at Regis and it was very intense. It is 16 weeks and essentially a system is covered per week give or take. It sets up a good foundation but as you go throughout your program you will keep building on the pharm knowledge. The nursing theory coursework is a lot of writing APA, but it is what you would expect from a Master's trained nurse course. They are helping you develop into a strong critical thinker with excellent writing skills. People go through the program, graduate and go onto to become NPs. Some don't. It's not easy but if this is your goal they are willing to help you achieve this. GL

I think they spend more on aggressive enrollment than they actually spend to ensure that students have a memorable experience. I’ve been asking myself how I ended up in this school ever since the program started. Very inconsiderate program. They are aware that most of their students work full time and probably take more than 1 course per semester. Yet, there are numerous assignments, discussions and quizzes every week. Even the most brilliant student may have difficulty coping. Their clinical rotation semester is worse! You are expected to spend at least 24hrs (3 days) in an outpatient clinic, no hospital or 12hr option (acute care rotation isn’t allowed). Also, you are expected to still participate in discussions, assignments and quizzes and of course you are taking a final exam which takes about 1hr. Sometimes you have multiple assignments in the exam week, exam week should at least be free for studying. This program is awfulllll to say the least. Unfortunately, most people don’t know what they are getting into because their curriculum is sort of private and they don’t really give you an in-depth explanation of what you are getting into. Even while in the program, you struggle to understand how things work because you tend to get generic answers when you inquire.

They have some very mean professors too, some of the professors don’t grade objectively. Some are actually good. Do your research before enrolling, their enrollment is easy and getting into the program is super easy but staying in the program is nerve wrecking.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I am planning to apply for the WHNP program. Any reviews about it, especially about the clinicals phase? So far most of the feedback I've seen have been negative. ?
