Recruiters, Is there anyone who has actually been hired after applying on a job board?

Published

If there are any recruiters out there, are those listing on job boards worth applying to or should I stick to trying to find a contact person. Does anyone actually obtain a position after applying to a job board??

In the past when I have looked for jobs I've used Indeed and gotten calls right and left for years!

I have been told by a couple of recruiters that the job ads listed online boards are a formality only and that the majority of the positions are already filled from inside or people they have already targeted for the position. That most of the jobs no longer exist even as it is posted. The postings are have something to do with contractural or anti-discrimination laws etc. Honestly, every job I have ever had was from a personal referral, though but at this time I have been scouring those boards and applying just hoping. Now with this new information from the recruiters, I will stop and pursue other avenues.

I’ve been hired for jobs that I found listed on job boards. But with that said, I still applied on company website; i.e. job is advertised on Glassdoor or Indeed but when I click on the apply button/link, it takes me to the application/job listing on the company’s website and that’s where I submit my application.
