RECIPROCITY to California - RN Graduate from the PHILIPPINES

World Registration

Published

Hello all,

I am a BSN graduate from the Philippines, and an RN there and in New York.

I'm sure you guys know that international BSN graduates has not been getting through the California BRN since year 2010, because of the issue that foreign graduates (esp. from the Philippines) lack units during our college / Nursing years. This said, I know zero of my colleagues who applied to take the NCLEX got their ATT, since o'10.

I recently applied to have my license in New York endorsed to California, and noted that one requirement they had is that I must provide my college transcripts from where I graduated (again, in the Philippines).

I am currently in CA, but I am thinking to just move to New York, if I am only waiting for my application to get rejected because I lack units, or cases/caseloads.

I'm looking for someone with the same case I am in, or who was in the same case.. Please help me, should I just go to New York? :( :( :(

Hopefully! God bless and good luck on your application.

I graduated in 1995. At first it showed missing educational history, pending, then open. After a week the view application status disappeared. I have a friend who applied two weeks earlier, got her license in 6 weeks. She graduated in 2004 and was not required a list of her cases as well. Hope this info helps.

You and you friend are in completely unrelated category based on your graduation years.

If you graduated prior to 2004-2005, the CA BRN is not as looking thru the microscope as those who graduated post-2005 (there's been a couple of 2006 who were approved but not many).

Those who graduated from 2005 onwards are and have been subjected to meet the concurrency rules established in the late 1980's.

Hi,

I am currently living here in Canada but is planning to take Licensure examination in California Nursing. I got my RN license in the Philippines. I was wondering if there are filipino canadian who have applied to California Nursing before?

Do i have to get US Social Security Number? or does my Canadian Social Security Number works?

Thanks.

Yes, you need the US social security number. In order to get the SSN as a Canadian, you need to have a work permit.

Hi guyz does anybody know any agency or employer who could help my friends who were NCLEX passers to get a job here in US??

hi petchie can i ask if how many days is your view application status disappeared?

hi everyone! i am a member on this site for over a year now. and i have the same dilemma has everyone is facing with regards to those who have graduated and earned their BSN degree in the Philippines.

I am from the batch 2013

and

I am a Registered nurse back in the Philippines.

i started my application in the state of CA last May 2015. And have gotten an initial response from my licensing analyst, asking for ton of requirements (TRANSCRIPTS, educational background program, academic calender, cases, etc). And my school have just sent them all the things they've asked for just last MAY of this year. And I have been calling my licensing analyst since I got notified from LBC (the courier service used to sending the docs) that it had been delievered and received by this certain person. It took many times before I got lucky to speak with my analyst. But he just said to wait after 4 weeks. so i did wait. and after 4 weeks i tried calling again. but to no avail. and as i really wanted to know what happened to my application and to the docs sent by my school (since i have read somewhere online that the docs got lost or something) i emailed my licensing analyst instead. and told him my concerns and all. and apologized if i am already getting annoying.. and after a few days, a new licensing analyst have emailed me. stating that, she'll be the new licensing analyst to review my credentials and whatnot. and that i have to wait few more weeks. so i waited for about 2 weeks. then i contacted her. i got lucky to spoke with her for the first try of calling. then she said, i have to wait few weeks more (i dont know how many weeks exactly as she did not disclosed it to me) and i asked her if she could assure me that my credentials sent by my school are not lost and just sitting in their waiting desk, waiting to be reviewed. but she said, she could not give me assurances with that. so i thought its kind of a bummer. i mean, it is their responsibility to make sure that all of their applicant's credentials are safe and intact. but anyway, after i made that call, few days letter, i have received a mail from my analyst; asking me for my SSN. and i still can't figure it out what happened to the photocopied of SSN i sent them together with my initial application. and that made me think, that if they can't even take hold a single sheet of paper, how about a massive files of documents and credentials...

i know that there is a big and almost a 100% of me getting denied and having to be required to take MS and OB (both theoritical and clinical) but point is, they could just make the agony of waiting short, if one if not qualified they could just tell them right away so that time of waiting for nothing will not be consumed.. i mean i don't mind waiting if it entails having to get the ATT and to sit in for NCLEX..

but anyway, i am not yet losing hope, but i am almost losing it-- kunting kunti nalang. :'(

anyone who have just applied ??? what are your updates with regards to your applications? please let me know.

and to know applications who have been judged by the CABRN; how many weeks did you get your letter of denial from the date of complition of the requirements? and what are your plans now???

thank you! and God bless..

please do e-mail me to those who wanted to share the same problem

Hi! I just want to ask if Illinois will require you to present a SSN to have your license be renewed?

Thank you

My husband and i just got here in the US and we also live in California. I'm a PH registered nurse and he's not. We're still in the process of applying for new mexico nclex rn. If we pass, hopefully we can endorse it to Nevada, so we'll be at least closer to our family here in California. I lost hope in getting an RN license here in California coz it looks like they've made it impossible to get one esp for us foreign nurses.

What year did you graduate in the PH? I am currently in California but i did not expect it to be this unfair to us international graduates. I would rather take an OSCE and prove to them my credentials than just words written on a piece of paper. I might be going back soon. Can't afford to wait any longer not having a job here.

The CA BRN is not unfair at all, they are merely enforcing the concurrency rules established in 1987 that applies to each and every applicant wanting to be licensed in CA, whether you are a CA resident, out of state person or international. Every application must meet the minimum standards.

The blame goes to the CHED, PRC and PNA who simply ignored the CA policies for many many years.

The other major blame belongs to the previous PH nurses and grads who lied and cheated their way to get thru the CA BRN with falsified documents that were simply purchased.

That's why the CA BRN evaluators are going thru all the applicants with PH degrees under the microscope and a fine tooth comb. It was awhile under the prior investigation that the analyst found the concurrency issues.

Just so you know there's another thread I started whereby the CA BRN put 7 of the guilty kababayans in a CA jail. They are investigating more I'm sure as we speak, as the ring leader was a lady from the PH.

So you can be "thankful" for those selfish and greedy PH nurses that's caused several thousands of PH applicants unable to meet the CA BRN standards unless they can complete their deficiencies within the 3 year time limitation. This is in combination with the short mindness of the 3 major PH nursing agencies.

Can't blame the board for being extra careful with PH applicants for that matter. They are just doing their job protecting the public.

But, as you said, we are the ones applying so we have to comply on their minimum requirements.
