Recently passed NCLEX...looking for job in NJ, PA area...need recommendations

Hi Everyone so like the title says I just passed my NCLEX after the second time. I passed on Dec 19 and am awaiting my license number. So far I have applied to about 8 barnabas jobs, one at St. Peters, RWJ, Centrastate and CHOP. I was told to apply everywhere and to any job possible early on. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to apply or not apply? What are some good hospitals for new nurses....I have a BS in Public Health and a BSN in Nursing with BLS, Mental Health First Aid and Pharm Tech certifications. I am looking in the Philly/PA area and NJ. Any help would be great!

Philly is hard right now for new grads. My friends who got jobs almost exclusively worked as techs or externs and had a connection. I know CHOP pays less than other hospitals in the area but since everyone wants to work there, you will have a lot of competition. Did you try Einstein or Virtua? I heard they were hiring recently.

I applied there and they said they are no longer hiring for those positions...I have a phone interview for a nicu job at a Delaware hospital today. Crossing my fingers!

I'm currently in the process of applying to accelerated BSN programs. I really thought there was a huge demand for nurses, but some of these posts worry me. Is that not the case anymore? or do other factors come in to play after getting licensed?

Any info is appreciated :)

Hey, I did a accelerated bsn after my public health degree...its hard to get a job starting out but it seems that once you have that one year of experience you could get a job just about anywhere.

There is no shortage of inexperienced new grads. The nursing shortage is propaganda. There is a search for experienced specialized nurses. There are more nurses than full time jobs in nj.

it's not any better for experienced RNs in the Philly/South Jersey area. I have 11 years of Med/Surg experience, my BSN, have applied to well over 100 positions in the past year and have had 3 interviews. It really, really sucks. I never imagined the nursing profession would come to this.

Hi guys. So I finally got my license number and I've applied to well over 100. I had 2 interviews. One for a peds office...waiting to hear and one in Delaware with. 2.5 yr contract...I didn't get that one but I'm okay with that. They said the reason they didn't hire me was because I didn't seem to be super passionate about nicu nursing. I mean it wasn't my ideal job so I guess it showed. Now I know what I need to work on. Still no other interviews...any other suggestions for where to apply?
