  1. Hi AlexandraT...sorry it's been a while since I checked the site. As far as the HESI, I studied from the review book, and I took it at the end of January. As for the letters of recommendations, I'm honestly not sure what kind of letters they would rather get. I had one submitted from an old manager and also a professor. The info session I went to was in March..don't know if they had another. You can always email someone in the nursing dept. and ask, or check the website...they have a lot of info on it! Best of luck :)
  2. Welcome koran120 & AlexandraT! I remember being in your shoes last year, and know it's stressful. Hopefully my little bit of advice can help :) As far as the HESI goes, I used the 2nd edition Evolve study guide, my old A&P textbooks, and youtube. For the application process, you need to apply through NursingCAS. My advice to you is to start your application process as early as possibly can. It takes time to enter all your coursework, to have your transcripts and LORs received, and to get your application verified. Another suggestion is to attend one of their information sessions...you can get some good info there! Also, one more tip...apply to Wall first...in the event you do not get accepted then you can always ask to have your application reconsidered for the JC cohort :) at least that was how it was this application process, but I would ask just to double check. Good luck!
  3. Congratulations wsc404 and nusa161! Hello Rotko15...Orientation was very informative. I think we needed more time to go over everything. It is a lot! Lots of things to do before starting the program! Wall cohort only has a little over a month to get everything done, but at least the JC students will have more time. They went over things like the handbook, uniforms, immunizations, CPR training, background checks, liability insurance, financial aid, private loans, badges, books for the 1st semester, our schedules, travel study... We had the chance to get our student IDs and order our uniforms. We also met students that are in the program now that spoke to us about the travel study opportunities. :)
  4. Not sure if anyone still reads this thread, but for those of you who attended the Wall orientation last week... Anyone have the website for the badges? The website I wrote down is not working...I'm thinking I might've wrote it down wrong or is everyone having the same issue?
  5. Hi Silverbullet1 - I called the admissions dept. and they confirmed receipt of my check. Maybe you can try that :)
  6. Best of luck in your future endeavors zibi!
  7. Thank you pink magnolia 611 and gennisajenius! Everyone has different advice, and I truly appreciate everyone that has posted to this thread! I'm quite nervous as you can probably tell, and I hope I can get through this year without losing my sanity.
  8. Just called the # on the letter like you said - they confirmed it was received! Thank you JeanetteL!
  9. I had called and left a message for that lady that we were supposed to send our deposit to, but she never called me back. Did you call the nursing dept or admissions?
  10. Thanks for the update JCCMA! They have yet to call me back. I just checked the mail (thanks to you) and just received directions for GothicNet with my username and password, but nothing specific about my deposit or being a student
  11. Thanks for your advice hsamuel! I honestly don't have time to read for fun..lol. Between kids, housework, church, soccer, and the million and one other things that need to get each week, I barely have any time for myself. I'm basically typing right now with one hand and feeding the baby with the other...just craziness:) When I do get some free time, I'm either online trying to prepare for nursing school by getting as much advice/info as possible or spending quality time with the kids b/c I know this next year is going to be difficult on the whole family...which definitely saddens me in a way
  12. beckeroo222 - what can I say? That was AMAZING! I understand it's going to be a tough journey, but I'm beyond excited to start. Thankfully I have a GREAT support system! My husband and children are my #1 fans! Even though my husband works full-time - actually more than just full-time (which is actually annoying sometimes) - he still tries to help me around the house and with the kids as much as he can. I'll never forget the weekends he would take all 3 kids downstairs, while I study upstairs hours and hours while taking my pre-reqs. He knows it will be a hard year, but ready for us 'as a family' to take it on with full force. My mother, in-laws, and siblings w/ their spouses all live within a half hr and are always willing to help out - even if it's just taking one of the kids out for a few hrs - every bit helps. Words can't describe how thankful and grateful I am for this opportunity :) thank God!
  13. You are AWESOME! Thank you for that PDF!!! This is going to help me out a lot now, and I'm sure during school!!! Thank you mevsmom!
  14. Thank you mevsmom...we're actually getting a dosage book during orientation next week from what I heard. I will try to read and study from it during the month so I can be prepared for the med calc test. As for the lab values, it seems like a lot of info to try to memorize before I begin. Am I really expected to know all this before I start?
  15. Thanks nlynrob - will definitely try to spend quality time with my family and friends b/c I'm sure it's going to be one crazy, busy year! Thanks Don1984! I'll look into getting these notecards this weekend. Considering I do not have a medical background, anything will help!
