Recent Nclex takers

to those who just took the nclex rn exam recently or remember much from it (as i'm sure most of it is a blur), but were there any specific topics that you feel were mentioned a few times or certain math questions that were asked...i'm not asking for specific questions as i know that is not allowed but rather topics...ex i heard that addisons disease and cushings syndrome come up a bit...is there anything else you guys noticed?

all information will be greatly apprectiated. i have 7 days to go and my panic level is on the rise.

Take the patient's weight and convert it to kg as a start. How many mg will be in each ml of IV fluid that is in the bag?

See if you can figure it out from here.

I GOT THAT PART THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH THE PROBLEM IS THAT I CANT SEEM TO FIGURE OUT THE REST OF IT, iN THE MATH BOOK IT IS NOT SHOWING THE STEPS ,WOULD YOU BE SO KIND TO HELP DO THE REST OF OF THE FIGUREING OUT PART......THANKS SO MUCH SUZANNE

hmm..

i think after nclex exam, it was clearly stated that your not allowed to discuss about the exam itself.. that includes the questions and topics..

you'd definitely get in trouble if you don't stick with the rules.. :)

by now you've got 6 days to go before the exam.. its best not to study by this time..

try doing this instead.. :tbsk: relax.. :)

good luck!

Ok MyDear ,

First of all I am allowed to ask for help because this forum is about nursing!!! I no way !!!no how !!!EVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT NCLEX QUESTIONS, IF YOU LOOK IN MATH BOOKS FOR MATH MEDS THESE ARE NORMAL QUESTIONS OF WHICH WE NEED TO LEARN AND YOU BEING IN THE REAL WORLD SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THAT!!!

SO PLEASE DONT INVOLVE YOURSELF WITH COMMENTS SUCH AS THE ONE YOU STATED ,BECAUSE YOU ARE A NURSE DOESNT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO ADDRESS THINGS IN A NEGATIVE MANNER WHEN OTHERS ARE TRYING TO BETTER EDUCATE THEMSELVES.. So PLEASE UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO HELP KINDLY KEEP YOUR OPINION WHICH IS FAR FROM THE TRUTH OUT OF THIS UNLESS YOUR WILLING TO BE POSITIVE AND HELPFUL!!!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH..:banghead:

oh..

not you florida.. i think the one who started this thread..

probably edited the original question.. but still with math questions..

sorry for the misunderstandin'

Hi ,

I am havinga problem doing this math question, I really would like to learn how to figure this out in steps ,Can anyone who really knows math help me please.. Here is an example,,thanks..

Got this from a book but doesnt actually show you how to do the steps to get the answer..

The nusre is careing for PT who has a pres, for dopamine, drip for 5mcg/kg/min

The pt weights 200 lbs, the nurse has on hand 400 mg per 500ml d5w avail. How many milliliters should the nurse admin to the pt each hr?

the answer was 34ml..but have no idea how they got it.. any help would be appreciated.......................

I have to do all my math by dimensional analysis... I can't remember all the formulas anymore.

Here's a shortcut. We all know that there is 60 minutes in 1 hour.

500 mL x 5 mcg x 91 kg x 60 min

______________________________= 33.75 or 34 mL/hr

400000mcg

convert the milligrams to micrograms and then convert the lbs to kilograms.

heres how i might be of help....

1. divide 400mg by 500 ml which is 0.8 mg/ml

2. convert 0.8mg/ml to mcg/ml which is 800 mcg/ml

3. convert Wt 200 lbs to kg. which is 200/ 2.2 = 90.91 kg

4.next follow this given dose of 5 mcg/kg/min by 800 mcg/ml which is 0.00625

5. multiply mcg/kg/min which is 0.00625 x 90.91kg x 60 min = 34.09 mls

any correction if there is????

Average is 3-10 day and may see name on website if you have SSN otherwise could be looking up to 4 weeks approx. We do not recommend ringing up and making enquires until 2 weeks have passed if you haven't heard anything. They will not be able to tell you over the phone your results but could say when your letter was sent
