Received board order via email , feeling overwhelmed!!!

Published

Hey guys I finally received my board order via email and it’s a lot more to it than what the lady told me over the phone ! When she told me that My board order stated

1) A penalty fee of $500

2) , 2 approved addiction courses

I specifically asked about probation and monitoring and she said there was nothing on there . I guess that really got my hopes up because when I receive my order I was expecting a short summary of those two things . I am feeling very overwhelmed to know that I am on probation for two years and will have to be in the monitoring program. I’m clean so monitoring really shouldn’t be a problem I guess I’m just scared of false positives .

I am thankful that I get to work with no restrictions and have an active license so I really should be concentrating on that part but it’s just the monitoring and the meetings and all of that has got me really overwhelmed. I have to be evaluated by a board approved addictionologist or treatment center So I’m really hoping my clean time will have a good effect on my outcome.

I’m sorry for the long post it’s just that y’all are very supportive and I know we’re all in this together!!!

3 1/2 years of sobriety, which you did on your own and maintain on your own and they still want to "monitor " you? ridiculous! I'm sorry this is happening to you but I promise, you got this!! And yes, it will be overwhelming and scary at first. My first 3-4 months were the worst. It gets better, I promise. Sometimes I forget I'm even in this program ( until I have to do a test) Remember we're here and don't be afraid to ask questions or just vent bc your pissed off! ?

Wondering if I should even bother with a lawyer. I’m pretty sure if I got a lawyer I would still get sucked into monitoring and then I would have the cost of a lawyer plus the drug screens, etc.

I don’t know if a lawyer would be worth it for you. Looking back I wish i would have got one. If a lawyer can help shave time or costs off of this garbage then he or she is worth it. The peace of mind of having a trained professional in your corner may give some solice also

good luck

I would get a lawyer. The Board is not there to help you. I will never deal with the Board without an attorney.

I know today is your big day with the Board. Hugs sent your way this morning! Let us know how your meeting turns out! ❤️

My husband asked me what the date was this morning. I said, “October 8th”. As soon as I said it, I thought of you, sent up a quick prayer for your meeting, & grabbed my phone to post you best wishes.

Just remember that you have an entire community of support on this site.

Jot some questions down & make notes. That’s what I did during my first meeting with KARE. Ask about Benadryl use for your allergies -with a doctor/ provider’s permission, (as discussed in a different post), ask about the AG list (to relieve your fears), and ANY other questions that you’ve thought of. Make notes on what they say. Today can be overwhelming & sometimes we don’t “hear” all their comments/instructions when sitting in that chair, stressed. Afterwards, I was grateful for my notepad of zillions of notes that I took. It kept me from calling back to clarify.

Best of luck! ?

My order is a little more in depth than what I initially thought - but still not bad. I can keep my current nursing job as long as I am compliant with my order.

My board order states:
1) 500.00 fine
2). 2 addiction courses
3). 24 months probation
4) chemical dependency evaluation - which I know I will pass since I’ve been clean a long time- just hope and pray they don’t recommend another rehab since I didn’t finish an inpatient . I did complete outpatient so I will definitely have my certificate with me when I go for myevaluation.
5) monitoring/ random urine drug screens for 3 years
6) 3 signed AA meetings per week
7) Quarterly evaluations from my employer/DON

RN license will remain active and non-restricted as long as I am compliant . So glad I can keep my current nursing job! My DON said she has no problem with doing my evals!

So I’m going to be ok! So glad I have this forum to check in and ask questions!

thank y’all
