just had my antenatal check...baby is slightly posterior (back slightly near my spine) so can be born facing up...have protein and glucose+ in my urine. im nearly 36 weeks pregnant. told to do 'pelvic rock' which i am doing......im so worried. will baby move to anterior position? need some advice please.
Have you had a Glucose Tolerance Test done? If not, please ask to have one done. Of all the moms I've seen with gestational diabetes, none ever had any symptoms. In addition to cutting out sweets, avoid fruit juices (the fresh fruit is okay though), and do not drink regular soda, sugared tea, or regular koolaid. Hey, you only have one month to go! I pray all will go well. Take care, Audrey - ex OB nurse and current diabetes educator.
my midwife has not suggested a glucose tolerance test. all she said was i have eaten too much sweet things. she told me about my diet ...eating properly but i said its xmas and i dont eat as much sweet stuff all the time. i havent got to see her again till 17th jan, where i will be 38 weeks (if i go that far as others born at 37 and 38 weeks). my midwife to be honest didnt seem too concerned. im not happy with seeing her then so im going to try and see if i can get an appt for next week when she is there. im also going to test myself to see if i still have glucose in my urine.
thanks everyone for all your replies :)
Policy in our trust and in aothers I have worked in is to offer the glucose tolerance test if there are 2 episodes of glycosuria or history of gestational diabetes or immediate family history of diabetes mellitus. Personally I think an earlier appointment is justified UK_nursemy midwife has not suggested a glucose tolerance test. all she said was i have eaten too much sweet things. she told me about my diet ...eating properly but i said its xmas and i dont eat as much sweet stuff all the time. i havent got to see her again till 17th jan, where i will be 38 weeks (if i go that far as others born at 37 and 38 weeks). my midwife to be honest didnt seem too concerned. im not happy with seeing her then so im going to try and see if i can get an appt for next week when she is there. im also going to test myself to see if i still have glucose in my urine.thanks everyone for all your replies :)

thanks Dawn. there is no history of gestational diabetes and no one in my family is diabetic but my husbands father had diabetes, insulin controlled, in later life. i am definately going to get an earlier appt.thanks for your advice as im not a midwife and dont know how things work. :)
Hi mama -
My #3 baby was born posterior - at home in the water with a midwife. My first 2 were too fast - 4 and 3 hours, so it was actually a blessing. My midwife had to do a little internal pressure on my bottom to make a little extra room, but other than that it was a wonderful 11 hour - textbook buildup and peak labor. I second blue-eyes...watch your sugar and protien intake. Also there is a homeopathic remedy for turning a post baby....homeopathy
Good luck, sending smooth labor vibes. :)

Just because your baby is posterior (suny side up) now does NOT mean that he/she will remain that way. When you are in labor, stay out of bed as much as possible and allow the baby to get into a more optimal posiion. One exercise that helps the baby get into position is putting one foot up on a chair seat (knee is obviously bent) and sort of lunging toward the chair into your knee(if you get my drift).Good luck and do NOT worry! If the baby remains posterior there isn't a whole heck of a lot you can do about it anyway.
