Hi everyone.
I hope somebody can answer my query. I am an IEN. Should I get a visa visa through PNP, which means I have an employer - sponsored visa, how many tries will the employer allow before the temporary license be revoked? Since it is a conditional offer of employment , with the condition that you pass the CRNE, what if you didn't pass the CRNE on your 1st take?will they give you the opportunity for the THREE takes before they will decide to revoke your temporary license?
thanks and Godbless.
If you have approval to sit the exam then there is nothing stopping you from getting a temp license, finding a employer now and coming over to Canada and work whilst studying an taking the exam. Many do it but if you fail there may be consequences with employer but that is something you can sort out with province and employer
Jan is a very experience RN in Canada and her experience plus years are indicated just below her name
I am currently going through the process with Nova Scotia college and have to make courses up even though I trained in the UK as it all goes on what is on the transcripts and my university didn't list my individual theory hours but grouped them all under 1. I am lucky as dh was the one who got the TWP but the process is very similar although if working with children or healthcare you have to have a medical before the TWP will be issued. Canada is such a amazing place and we love it already. At the end of March we will have been here 12 months and doesn't feel like it
how much is sec assessment (per subject)?
during sec assessment, how long do i need to stay in canada(saskatchewan)?
how much is the rent in saskatchewan and for my food allowance?airfare?
do i need to have much money on my bank account so the immigration will let me in canada, how much do you think?
Im planning to apply in SRNA, and doing an estimate of my expenses so I can prepare myself?

Not sure on costs of SEC but I am sure once your transcripts have been assessed they will inform you if required and contact details. Probably looking at a couple of days and probably looking at a hotel/motel. I found prices wasn't too bad and most had free internet plus breakfast. Some also have a small fridge so you can buy a few things and eat in your room.

Very excited to read this post! Thanks so much SilverDragon for the inspiring reply! Do a lot of hospitals hire people with the interim license? Do they even help you obtain a temporary working permit? If i understood correctly, you can work while waiting and preparing for the exam, true???? This is fantastic if it's true!

As long as you have eligibility to sit CRNE then you should be able to find a employer willing to assist you in the work permit. There are many members that have gone through the process and started working in Canada before sitting the exam. Be aware they may be consequences if you fail the exam and make sure you sort things out with the employer before you start working with them. To obtain a temp work permit you need a employer and many will understand the process and that for some there will be a lot of expense involved making it better to come out to Canada and work before sitting the exam
silverdragon I have my eligibility from nova scotia even though I dont have much hospital experience and I was lucky enough to find employer to sponsor me for TWP. already done with my medical and just waiting for the result, hope to come to canada by july or august. I have a question, if I will be there in canada by August, do I have to sit on CRNE by oct or do I have to wait up to Feb?
Have you applied for and paid to sit the exam in Oct? If not then look at what it says on the CRNNS I believe you can wait until Feb but not 100% sure, may want to email them and check. I have always found them quick to reply
RN Exam

If you have your eligibility already and will be in Canada in October, there's no reason you should have to wait until February to write. The deadline for applications is August 6, 2009 and you can submit your application and fees from outside the country. You'll need to decide where you're writing though and apply to write in that city.
thanks everyone for your reply it makes all the difference. i was planning to sit for mi exam in october so bought the prep books to have an overview before i applied, god it its seems hard work am now scaredhas anyone passed without having canadian nursing exprience. i had a job offer with vch but they r taking a while so i was thinking of either go and sit in october or wait to get twp. am not fully decided coz i havent beeen to canada before so i need to convience mi husband as well. so i thought going in october will give an a feel of the place if i pass brilliant then there is no pressure abt mi eligibility expiring

do you think the immigration of canada will let me have the visitor's visa knowing that Im going to only take CRNE?
so I will only need my employer if my purpose is to have work permit as GN while waiting to sit for CRNE?---> is this correct?
I think I should do that since I do have lots of free time because Im jobless right now. . .
It will take lots of money from assessment of papers by canada (saskatchewan),when approved -go to canada via visitor visa and take CRNE, then go home in Philippines to wait for result, when passed --> look for employer so I can have work permit..---------> But I think its worth it . . .
Ill just need to form the structure of my plan before anything else so I will know every details and possibilities. . .
I'll post my plan later so you can let me know If it's flawsless or need revision. . . thanks so much
by the way janfrn, your a nurse of what country?what specialization? years of experience?
