  1. Wow, that's very informative Bryan. Really appreciate it!!!
  2. I'm saving money to go to CRNA school right now and would like to start studying some of the textbooks while not under any stress of exams. Any suggestion would be appreciated!
  3. Have just moved to Aussie to practice and found out that they don't have RT working in the ICU. Would appreciate it if anyone could recommend some self-study websites about ventilator settings and management. Not just the basics that we've learnt at school, but with more details and practical use. Thanks in advance!!!
  4. Thanks Orca and Jolie for the input! Really appreciate it! I was about to finish the online renewal process and wondering how long it can extend the expiration date?
  5. My licence in the US is expiring the end of June 2010. I'm now working in Australia and will still be working there for another 4 years or so. Planning to come back to the US afterwards but nothing is for sure at this time. Don't know if I should renew my licence right now (before it expires) or wait until I come back? Is it renewable online? Appreciate any advice!!!
  6. Thanks so much Joan. Will surely check before i make a trip.
  7. Thanks for your reply Joan. I'm not in Australia. And the Board doesn't accept mailed documents. I guess spending another trip is the only option for me?
  8. The assessment letter I got from NSW nursing board says that registration will be granted when I attend the Board's office with identity documents. But the employer in NSW I contacted said that I have to finalize my registration first before they would consider my application. I assume there's no other way than spending another trip to Sydney simply to show my passport to someone, that sounds a little bit ridiculous.... I was hoping that I could get a job offer before I physically go there to finalize the registration. Anybody has any idea what I should do at this point??? Thanks!!!
  9. I understand that the temporary licence expires March 1st every year. I'm planning to take CRNE next February but just found out that it usually takes 4-8 weeks for the results to come out. If the result can't come out by March 1st, is it possible to ask for renewal of the temporary registration? Anybody has thought about this issue before? Thanks!
  10. Just got my eligibility to sit CRNE this morning. I wondered if I should pick up a test date and send those forms (Criminal background check, CRNE application, etc) back to CRNBC or should i wait until i secure an employment in BC... Seems like it's hard to predict when i would get the temporary work permit, i feel unsafe to apply for CRNE right now because if i can't get the visa by the test date i wouldn't be able to take it! There's also a form need to be filled by my potential employer in BC, which i don't have right now... So my question is should i leave alone those forms and go ahead and find an employer first? They'll consider my current status as eligible for temporary registration right? I don't need to apply for CRNE before the employ would consider me right? Sorry if the question itself is confusing. But this is really a confusing part in the registration process!!! Any help would be life-saving, thanks!!!
  11. I just changed my PC and lost the website URL for online scheduling. I think it's xxx.medstar.net, but couldn't remember the whole thing. Anybody could help?
  12. I just couldn't stand another day taking care of non-ICU patients in the ICU. This has become so obvious after i told my manager i'll be relocating in 3 months. I've been assigned with ready-to-leave patients day after day without a single exception. I'm still new to the ICU setting and i'm eager and willing to learn. But from the cases i've been given everyday, i can learn nothing... I don't know how to open this up with the manager because i'm sure they don't see any reason to continue training me for the benefit of the hospital. I've lost my stand point the moment i informed them about my leaving... Who could show me a way to get out of this dillema?
  13. I physically live in the US and don't know if we have any entities here that can help me verify the authenticity of the copies of my license, passport, and so on. It's mentioned in the registration booklet of NSW that you can ask the Justices of the Peace, Legal Practitioners, Magistrates... to help you with this. So my question is should i go to the police station or should i just find a lawyer to sign it? Do all kinds of lawyers qualify to certify my documents? Anybody has any idea? I'm kind of stuck by this weird requirement of NSW... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  14. Thanks SilverDragon! Does it matter which province i apply to sit CRNE? I thought i have to make a decision which province to apply and then they'll authorize me to take the test, no? I don't have to apply through the college of nursing of a certain province?
  15. Thanks for your comment 5cats! 8D Personally, i would like to go to Vancouver most. But if BC is the province that has higher requirement for experience simply because more people are applying to work there i may just concede to work in somewhere else first.
