Well, it's official as of yesterday. I received my results in the mail and once again I haven't passed the NCLEX. It's a HUGE bummer
, but I'm going to pull through. I have all ready begun preparation for hopefully what will be my 4th and final time. I was just wondering if any of you out there have advice for me in what I should do different and or what I should do. Anything would be appreciated.
On the brighter side I did do better this time than last time. I feel I only missed it be a hair. Before I had like four sections in the below passing standard, this time I had ALL sections in the near passing standard, which I'm taking as a positive note. I know next time I WON'T be getting this paper.
For all of you out there that are preparing to take the NCLEX my only advice is to never feel like you didn't do good enough or that you're not meant to be a nurse because you don't pass. I know in my heart that I am meant to be a nurse and I know that I WILL pass this damn thing. Just study hard, have patience and believe in yourselves.

I too have a friend who failed it many times - he is now the manager of a pain clinic at a private hospital and doing very well. He was made to be a nurse . . . . just not made to have it easy with that damn test.Don't judge yourself by NCLEX. Really.
Good luck.

Good point steph! Some people just aren't test takers. It doesn't mean that they aren't smart or not getting the material. Even those who test well may struggle in the clinical setting where it's mostly hands on. :)
I passed NCLEX on the third time thanks to http://www.learningext.com. I would take the 15 weeks, because there is so much material to go through. I did about 2-3 hours a night except weekends. It was a really good review. Good Luck, and don't let yourself get upset. You will make a great nurse, that test is so hard. :)
There is a silver lining to every dark cloud - although you didn't pass, you are an inspiration to people in similar situations. I just took my boards yesterday and honestly have NO IDEA of how I have done. But whatever my results are, I know there is always an opportunity to retake the boards. I also thought while taking the test that the results do no prove what type of nurse you'll be, and you seem that you will be an excellent nurse soon and give back to such a wonderful profession!!! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!!! I know its difficult but the best advice I can give you is try to relax and do positive affirmations everyday!!!! You will get through this - I believe in you:)
I'm sorry you didn't pass! Bummer! I would be frustrated by now. How many questions do you do per day? Where are your questions coming from? Have you tried http://www.learningext.com site? They have a 3 wk trial for $49. Don't give it!!!Good luck next time!
I have heard about this site also, and if I did not pass on the 3rd try, I was planning to sign up for it. It is very reasonably priced, & I have heard nothing but good things about it.
Brandi, I am sorry to hear you failed. Your positive attitude will make you a successful, caring nurse. I am taking the NCLEX in 3 weeks. I took a review course last month and the instructor suggested that we buy the 2004 - 2005 edition of the Kaplan boook. She explained that the first 170 pages of the book are strictly dedicated to NCLEX test taking strategies. I know after reading these pages I feel much better about taking the NCLEX. It explains how you should be breaking down the questions and determine exactly what the question is asking you. Best of luck to you!!:)
I just wanted to thank everyone for their words of wisdom and encouragement. I KNOW I can do it, it's just taking the LONG way to get there. All my new study sources have arrived in the mail so I'm going to start hammering away at them and retake the test AGAIN mid-September (when I'm eligible - have to wait 91 days in CA).
Once again thanks and if you have ANY study tips or ANY advice please PM me with info. I can USE anything!
Love - Brandi :)
PS. You're all the BEST!!!
