3rd time isn't a charm :(

Published

Well, it's official as of yesterday. I received my results in the mail and once again I haven't passed the NCLEX. :banghead: It's a HUGE bummer :crying2: , but I'm going to pull through. I have all ready begun preparation for hopefully what will be my 4th and final time. I was just wondering if any of you out there have advice for me in what I should do different and or what I should do. Anything would be appreciated.

On the brighter side I did do better this time than last time. I feel I only missed it be a hair. Before I had like four sections in the below passing standard, this time I had ALL sections in the near passing standard, which I'm taking as a positive note. I know next time I WON'T be getting this paper. :p

For all of you out there that are preparing to take the NCLEX my only advice is to never feel like you didn't do good enough or that you're not meant to be a nurse because you don't pass. I know in my heart that I am meant to be a nurse and I know that I WILL pass this damn thing. Just study hard, have patience and believe in yourselves.

Hello Brandi :) Sorry you didn't pass boards again, but don't give up. :icon_hug: Perhaps you should go back to one of your favorite instructors at the school you graduated from for some advice as to what may be a handicap to you in passing boards? They deal with this sort of thing enough to perhaps be of help to you. :balloons:

I'm sorry you didn't pass! Bummer! I would be frustrated by now. How many questions do you do per day? Where are your questions coming from? Have you tried http://www.learningext.com site? They have a 3 wk trial for $49. Don't give it!!!

Good luck next time!

To answer your questions I did the ENTIRE Suanders book along with questions from their CD, so it must have been at least 3,000. I used Saunders mainly to study and I also did Hurst Review (www.hurstreview.com).

Better luck next time I guess :). Oh and I'm planning on looking into www.learningext.com. I think I might do the 7 week course. Did you use it at all or know anyone you is or did?

I'm not sure I could show my face there. It's been a year and a half since I graduated. I'm to embarrassed to tell them I failed THREE times.

So sorry to hear u didn't pass .......I also failed and i will take then again in august. I am doing saunders too and finding it helpful. Did you go over every rationale right or wrong because that is what i find to be the most helpful because you truely understand why the answer is right and you learn some tips for future questions. did you try the mosbyCAT i think that is helpful too because it gives you a break down on all your study areas. keep your head up. you will pass. do u have to take a study course after 3 times or no?

good luck ill keep u in my prayers

I haven't tried the learningext.com yet. There is a thread here about people highly recommending that site.

Type in ncsbn in the search box and they should come up.

Did you ever do review course? Don't give up-we will be keeping you in our thoughts. Keep doing those prctice questions & believe in yourself.

:) Don't allow your embarrassment to keep you from seeking their expert advice. I'm sure you aren't the first grad from their college that had to repeat boards. Besides, they already know who passed and who didn't because they get a report of those students who passed or not. At least that is what I've been told.

I have a friend who has a close friend who failed her board five times before she passed. She didn't give up. The sixth try was a charm for her. What she did was go through her BSN and obtain her Masters Degree in Management BEFORE she sat for state boards. Taking her time to sit for boards only caused her to not have a fresh veiw of things, so I think that is what probably hurt her. This girl was a honor student all through both college degrees, and worked as a CNA while waiting to pass her boards.

Hang in there! Stay encouraged! :balloons:

I too have a friend who failed it many times - he is now the manager of a pain clinic at a private hospital and doing very well. He was made to be a nurse . . . . just not made to have it easy with that damn test.

Don't judge yourself by NCLEX. Really.

Good luck.
