RCC Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all! I haven't seen a page for Spring 2019 hopefuls yet, so I'm creating this one. If anyone has any comments/concerns/questions please post!

To start: RCC is in the early stages of developing a concurrent BSN program starting estimated Fall 2019. From what I remember at the info session, it will be about $15k and done through either CSUF or CSUSB. They are hoping to have 50% concurrent enrollment initially, and 100% later on. They are supposed to be meeting later this year (October-ish) to discuss it. I'm excited to learn more! It's definitely worth keeping up on if any of you are interested in pursuing your BSN afterwards.

Finally got the confirmation email! But now I have questions concerning transcripts, if I just started a semester outside of the riverside district how does that work? Going to have to email Steven :/. I have the Teas test in late October (I decided to pay for it instead of wait to get invited because I have a 3.0 in the science pre-reqs, I was doubtful i would get invited) I'm using the Mometrix Teas Secrets study guide right now but I'm thinking of also purchasing the ATI study guide.

SAMA34:

MSJC is a bit closer for me which is why it was my first choice. I have talked to alumni from both RCC and MSJC's ADN program and they have nothing but great things to say. I was bummed about RCC not offering points for having an AA because I know quite a few people applying who do no have one. In my opinion is doesn't make sense for someone with a BA to apply for this program when they can just do an accelerated BSN program and be done with their BSN in under 2 years. It doesn't make sense why someone would spend 2 years doing the ADN program then have to go back for their BA. The only reason I can think of is them having trouble getting into an accelerated program. After doing some research it does look like most people who have gotten into RCC's program had points in the 70s so I'm hopeful! What a bummer about not seeing the email! I beat myself up over missing MSJC's transcript evaluations; I would really beat myself up if I missed that email. I will double check my email to make sure I'm looking in the right spot. Thanks for the heads up! I have a 3.6 science GPA so I'm praying I get invited to take the TEAS. I've been using the ATI study package and I've been doing pretty well. Did you use ATI study material to prepare for the TEAS? If so do you think the TEAS was similar to the material you were studying? I'm so nervous to take the TEAS, as I've heard it's pretty tough. Good luck to you as well!

I have a 3.6 science too, so I think you would probably get invited to TEAS. I bought a book off of Amazon to study by Spire Study System. [if anyone wants it for like $10 let me know! I'm at RCC Wednesday afternoons!:) ] Definitely brush up on the Science and English sections! Math and Reading were a lot easier for me, I scored in 90s for those. Don't be nervous about the TEAS, you've already seen the material before, it's just a matter of remembering it all haha.

At least they send confirmation emails. Now to find the patience to wait until December! Regarding the current semester, as long as it's not a science prereq, it's okay; however, your grade in that/those classes won't affect your current application. If they are general ed classes, while they won't affect your current application, they will still count toward graduation in the end... which is good, so you won't need to finish it while you're in the program, or -even worse- have your degree on hold because of it!

I used adobe as well to submit the application. It was also changing my ID number to a whole number. I figured I wasn't the only one with this problem. I don't think it's a big deal. I'm sure they'll notice its like that on numerous peoples applications. This also my first time applying to nursing school so I'm really nervous! Good luck to everyone

I think it must have been a formatting issue with the original file, and I ended up thinking the same thing about others having the same problem.

Hello future nursing students! I'm currently in my last semester at RCC! I must say it has been quite a journey, but it truly goes by fast! I'm selling my 18 inch husky rolling backpack for 40 dollars if anyone is interested. I used it for one semester and you can hardly tell it's used. Hope you are all successful on your nursing journey!!!!

I did get an email back and you're correct as long as its not a prerequisite I'm fine. I'm currently taking transfer classes and he did say to not forget to submit my transcripts once the semester was over.

Who e- mailed you back? And when did he/she e-mail you?

Hello!

I applied to msjc and waiting to hear back. Super nervous, anxious and excited. Has anyone else applied this semester to MSJC?

Who e- mailed you back? And when did he/she e-mail you?

I apologize, I was trying to reply to sama34. I was worried about transcripts so I emailed Steven the nursing enrollment and eval specialist. He just confirmed what sama34 said, if they're not prereqs I'm fine.

Hi everyone! Has anybody heard any more about the concurrent BSN program? I know it's planned to start Fall 2019, but I'm wondering if the Spring 2019 cohort would get to participate as well.

@abowloforanges I'm wondering the same thing! I would love the opportunity to enter that program. Also has anyone received an invite to take the TEAS yet? I'm getting impatient.

I still haven't heard anything regarding the BSN CEP. I was thinking they'd have some sort of info about it on the school website. For the TEAS, if you have about a 3.6 average science GPA I think you'll for sure get an invite, I'm not sure how low they go though.

I did realize that applying in the Fall for Spring start, we have less waiting on finding out about acceptances/denials at least! It's only about 2.5-3.5 months of waiting compared to 5.5-6.5 months. :)
