Rare Illnesses please!

Published

Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. The school year has started for me, and it is now my senior year. I am required to do a Illness Log for my CNA licensure this year, and I need some illnesses that are out of the ordinary.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I have found a recent one, I used it, it was AAD, Alpha -1 something disorder, it had to do with breathing issues, I found someone discussion it on here and said it was uncommon, so my teacher will be happy with that.

If you have any suggestions, PLEASE let me know, I need an illness per week, thankyou!:typing

I really owe a Kudo's to all of you who have posted. I think I have enough illnesses for the school year. The AAC whatever it was, I researched and got the information needed for that for tomorrow to hand in, but this is all just fantastic, my teacher is going to be overjoyed with me. I really do thank all of you. This is my last year as a CNA and I want to do the best I can!

If you go with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a side note about it is that Michael Jackson supposedly had it. It would help explain his wearing the masks in public!

I recently had a pt with neuroblastofibroma. Nicest guy in the world. Saddest thing to see. Invaded his lungs and spinal cord.

I've had patients recently with neurofibromatosis, neurocysticercosis, and pemphigus vulgaris (that's three separate patients, not just one with bad bad luck :)). The last one was really sad -- stores and banks and whatnot kept asking the patient to leave the premises based on appearance, and the patient couldn't get anything done. Heartbreaking!

Cracked me up!

Pemphigus is awful - I've had a couple of patients with it and really feel for them.
