"Nurse" wins powerball

Father, Daughter Claim Powerball Prize

Russ Ankeney and Jessica Traylor, a father and daughter from Randleman in Randolph County, NC, were excited to see their numbers come up in a recent Powerball drawing.

Their ticket matched all five white balls but...

MSNBC Also states Jessica Traylor is a nurse. Interestingly enough, North Carolina has no one named Jessica Traylor licensed as a nurse. Either the news got it wrong or someone is full of it.

First thing I thought when I saw this was "Nice, someone can walk away from this often dreadful career."

Then I got thinking, and one thing I can assure you of is: If I won the lotto, I would not in a million years announce it. From what I understand, when you claim the prize, you can choose to remain anonymous. I would be clicking that option for sure.

Too many desperate families out there looking for an easy paycheck. They'd see a nurse who once had their grandmother won the lotto and oh boy.............all of a sudden her new onset A-fib is your fault.

I believe if you win a BIG jackpot you have to claim your prize in a ceremony where they invite the local news to attend. You can claim your prize if you form a "trust" therefore keeping your name private, but a body and a face has to claim the prize because millions of people play the lottery.

Why would the OP even have thought about looking up her license?

You know how the flu protects millions of people and one person has an adverse reaction and the people focus on that? Apply that to this situation.

Who the @#$% cares what license, if any, she holds and what does it have to do with winning the lottery? She probably won't be working any more. If I ever win my employeer wouldn't even get me back for a final shift once I claimed the money.

BTW, I'm an LVN and I too identify myself simply as a nurse because I get tired of the asanine comments and questions.

I'm an RN and I couldn't care less who(PCT, RCA, IBM, ATT, USA, ect) calls themselves a "nurse". And in fact I consider LPNs to be "nurses". Oh no! The humanity! As long as I'm still paid what I'm paid, whatever.

And your point would be....?

As for the reporter having made a mistake - if someone ID's herself as a nurse for a story about winning the lottery, it's hardly cogent to the story to verify the woman's license. Reporters are a lot like nurses today - each is trying to do the work of at least three people whose jobs were cut in the recent past. Wasting time tracking down the woman's license (or lack thereof) for a story that doesn't involve the person's workplace would probably get the reporter in trouble.

This isn't the first time a nurse has been in the news and others have tried to figure out if said nurse is licensed or not. I've seen it happen quite a few times on this site. I guess it is important to some people- don't know why though.

This poor girl. I wonder if she knows we are talking about her.

Do you know who IS a nurse on TV and it sort of disgusts me? (....now that previous poster has brought it up....)

Kim Zolciak, of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." She said in one episode that she was a "nurse" so I looked her up on the GA BON (I know, I know, lame, but I am totally addicted to those stupid shows.) Yes indeed. She is an inactive LPN. GROSS!!!!!

Why would the OP even have thought about looking up her license?

Boredom, ease.

Who is to say that she did say she was a nurse. Reporters often cut corners and report things a bit different. If the reporter didn't know the difference, it's entirely possible that the told the reporter she was a CNA (if that is what she is) and the reporter used the term nurse.

OR

maybe she's a nurse who isn't working and hasn't renewed her license

OR

maybe she's a nurse who has a different name on her license. My license doesn't have the name I go by

OR

maybe she is a nurse somewhere else and hasn't yet gotten her state's license

OR, OR, OR

Geez.

LOL!!!!!!!! Can you spell stalker? y'all rock!

Luann de Lesseps from the Real Housewives of NY was also an LPN, before she became the Countess! And one of the daughters on the OC housewives is an RN! (Haha I think I need to get a life!):clown:
