"International Association of Nurses" - is this legit?

Nurses Professionalism

Does anyone know what the "International Association of Nurses" is, or if it's legit? During school I got letters three years in a row telling me I was nominated for the "Who's Who in Educators" and suspect this is a bit along the same lines. Google isn't telling me much. I've never heard of their supposed publication "Worldwide Leaders in HealthCare."

Oh, I might also add that I have "been selected as a Top Nurse in" my small town Illinois, and have not yet secured employment after graduating last May. So their offer of this "prestigious tribute to [my] success" is very suspect, though I'd like to think they just anticipated my awesomeness :p

Well they contacted me too here in Canada but I was Googling them as she was talking. Funny how they kept lowering the price each time I said no to them. I have contacted LinkIn to let them know of this scam (that was where I found their link). I should have researched it more before I gave them info. The phone interview was word for word the same as posted here.

I checked with the Better Business Bureau and the International Nurses Association is not recognized as a justified business. On the other hand the American Nurses Association is absolutely recognized by the BBB!!! I will be filing a postal fraud claim, because I believe this is mail fraud!

So glad I followed my instincts! Just found this "wonderful" letter (note the sarcasm). Seemed a little bit too good to be true. I am too from a small town in Florida. Wonder if all the "Top nurses" come from small town cause they think they can pull the wool over our eyes.

OMG... you mean I got bamboozled????... I was wondering how they got my information, and they made it sound so legit. The website is scarce and seems like a low end facebook page. I'm like literally trembling. I knew I should done a bit more research before I fell for what they were selling. I was sooo desparate because I've been job hunting for 2 and half mnths and can't find work .. and they sold me on the line of having network connections and scholarships and the works.. and of course when I get my login info.. it's like a joke..

Specializes in geriatrics, IV, Nurse management.

They get quite angry when you call them out as a scam. I've redirected them to google posts on them lol. They call me monthly.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

This "association" calls me from a 3 number...thought it was an area code. I answered one day and told them I was busy and to call back. Googled them, their website, wasn't impressed. Keep calling me, keep ignoring it. They call at least once every 1-2 weeks. They'll probably call know since I'm talking about them. :wacky:

DON'T let frustration cloud your judgement...research EVERYTHING before your sign up..,you can say NO, then investigate.

Instead, look into LOCAL chapters in your area, you can find a list from the ANA website.

So I just wanted to give an update on what has happened since the unfortunate situation with this INA... I called my CC company and disputed the charges and am happy to say that I got my money back. Nothing this "association" promised was legit . Nothing . I will never fall victim to that kind of scheme again. just ugh!

Oh man! I wish I came here yesterday! i just got "bamboozled" :nailbiting: lol the email previously never mentioned anything about money (and i can't find the email now but i'm pretty sure it must've said it was free, and im guessing that was a deceit) received a call from a person in New York yesterday, they sweet talk and don't mention anything about money until the end, I spent 45 minutes with this lady! (But she seemed nice..) or that was part of the scam, not sure. Either way i gave out my credit card even though i was hesitant and she wouldn't even email me any information (which I found strange by the way). And now the charge ($218.95) is currently pending on my credit card. Tried calling the person i spoke to and left a voice mail to return my call. No call received yet. Tried to cancel my "membership" from another representative and she just states that all memberships are final. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet!.. ughhh

Call your credit card company now. Get the charge reversed before it posted. You have a 3 day right to cancel longer if they don't mail you info.

I called them (Capital One), unfortunately the representative said that the transaction is pending and hasn't posted yet (once the IAN sends in a bill or something it will post I guess, not sure why that's a separate process) and that i'd have to wait until it is charged for me to be able dispute it. I asked her to make a note if my issue with this transaction. So hopefully it is reversed once I call in after it is an actual transaction.
