what "extra" classes to add to RN Assoc.

Published

I'm working on getting RN associates,,but my problem is that i need extra classes to make a full schedule,, as I already have Bachelors in Accounting at the same school, and so I've already had English, speech, etc....

I was thinking psychology, but they say thats useless unless you have a masters,,,and so that leaves health information (records/coding+patho).

What do you guys think? Thanks.

What I did was look at the RN to MSN programs and what pre-reqs they had....then I took those.

I agree with that suggestion. If you're planning to advance your education down the road (BSN, MSN, etc.), look at what classes you need and see if you can knock off a pre-req or two. That's something I wish I had done myself.

Also, if you like psychology, who cares what anyone says: take it! Actually, I'm surprised that you haven't taken it yet, because most of the RN programs I've come across require some sort of psych course or courses as a pre-req.

I've had general psy and child psy, human growth also...I thought about taking adolesent (human growth 2), thinking it could come in handy if i worked at behavioral health.

I checked into the local schools to see what they want also. A big one that most places require is statistics if you haven't taken it already. Psych is a big one too...
