Hello
I've just completed the impossible. A&P1 in a 5 week summer semester. I didn't think I'd make it but I did. Problem is... I managed to get a "C", which is good enough to get into the schools that I'm interested in but surely not competative enough.
The second issue is... I'm already enrolled in A&P2 for this fall. Can I still take A&P2 this fall and retake A&P1 next year? Does it make sense to retake the class? Or should I keep the "C" and concentrate on getting an "A" in A&P2 this fall?
I've been out of school for a loooong time and everything is like new to me. I still can't believe I pulled off the "C" in such an intense class. I just went fot it, but I'm not satisfied with my grade.
What should I do? Any insight would be helpful.

I think this depends most on the admission criteria for the schools you're applying to. My school requires a minimum of a C+ in all science based nursing pre-reqs and co-reqs. They also determine a rank for all those applying and uses A&P I as a part of that rank determination. If you are applying to a school that does something similar, I would say to absolutely take it again. And even if you're not, if you have time to retake this for a better grade to boost your GPA, I think that would be a very good move on your part! Good luck!
Thank you mssjez. Would anyone know if I could go ahead with A&P2 this fall and retake A&P1 over next year? I really don't want rearrange my entire schedule. Besides, most classes are filled in any classes relative to nursing prereq's.

As long as you pass A&P 1 you should be clear to take A&P 2!
Stephalump, but can I take A&P1 over after I complete A&P2? I'm trying to get in contact with my school but my call has not been returned as of yet.
Oh, I don't know why not, The only potential problem would be if your school doesn't allow you to retake classes you've already passed. But that doesn't seem all that common. You should'nt be blocked from retaking it just because you took the second half. Lots of school have time limits on their science classes, and you have to retake older classes.
Thank you. I'll wait and see what they say. But I surely want to take the class over.
Anyone else ever been in a similar situation as far as getting a "C" grade and wanting to take the class over???

Congrats on the C in 5 weeks! Seriously. I repeated a class for that reason and confess that I was not that motivated. Got the A but it was extra work and a pain in the bum. Turned out not to be as necessary as I thought as all my other grades kept my avg v. high.
Good luck.

Investigate all the aspects of this before you make the decision. What are the policies on repeats in the programs you are considering? Many schools do not allow a repeat of a course that was passed with a C. There probably is no consequence of taking it after A&P2, because the two courses are probably just the subject material divided into two semesters, not sequential. Read the course descriptions to verify this, but ask the school admins whether the registration system will allow you to register for the class out of sequence. Sequential courses might not allow this. I would repeat the course to raise my GPA and to get a better understanding of the material, but I would worry about the other courses not yet completed before I would worry about repeating something I had already passed. Thanks guys. I think if I would have gotten a C+ I would have just left it alone, and not think about taking it again (being the first time and all). I would just have made sure my future grades were much higher. No one has gotten back to me yet, but it looks like I should be able to go ahead with 2 and repeat 1 at another time.
Any one else? I'm going to be honest, I feel a little anxiety when it comes to getting back into school. It's been a long time for me, and I'm really busting my tail to do well in school. I feel C's and C+'s are looked down upon, but I know that myself and others are working extremely hard to get good grades. I know it seems like I'm making a big deal about this one little "C" grade but I want to make the right decisions as far as going forward, and not complicate things if I don't have to.
Any advice would be appreciated.

One of my friends decided to retake Anatomy 1 because she had a C. The rest of her grades were B's and she felt the C just really brought down her GPA. The problem is our school actually averages out the old grade with the new so when she retook it, it barely helped her GPA. So I would find out the schools policy. If that is your only low grade I would say just focus on A&P II/
Thanks VictoriaMareah. That is a good point, and I'm glad you mentioned it. It really helps to be aware of all the senarios.
