Quinnipiac University ABSN 2021 Cycle

Published

Hi everyone!

I applied to Quinnipiac for the ABSN 2021 cycle, has anyone else?! Here are my applications stats:

A&P I: A-

A&P II: B+

Micro: B+

Stat: A-

My undergrad GPA is 3.09

Hopefully we hear back early March instead of late! ?

I did Too! It’s official

Congratulations! What criteria are you using to decide? Have you heard from any past or present students on how they like the program?

I would love to pick a great learning environment with a positive process but that seems hard to anticipate in advance.

In my opinion QU is exactly that, positive, supportive and a quality education. I like their holistic approach and how they don't just teach you the basics of nursing but also provide you with the resources and support to be more than just a nurse. They seem to foster to leadership skills which will inevitable prepare you to further your career after becoming a nurse. Everyone I have spoken to at the university has been kind and helpful. Not once did I feel like I was asking a stupid question. (and I ask a lot of questions LOL). The success rate is also in the high 90's for the NCLEX and they all but guarantee you will be employed within 6 month after graduation. To be honest I think CT has a lot of quality programs. For me QU not only offered what I am looking for educationally but also in a way that is accommodating to my schedule. I have three little ones, two of which are starting Kindergarten in the fall and the littlest one will be in preschool....all new schedules to navigate. QU follows the traditional academic calendar which is more in line with the public school schedule so we will have holidays and breaks off together. The tuition is obviously more expensive than most but for me the convenience of not struggling more than I have to in terms of juggling schedules and childcare is worth the money.

That was a lot LOL, I hope it was helpful ?

Is anyone joining the zoom call tomorrow? I can't wait!

Great reasons! Thank you! And good to hear more about the schedule! I will be there tomorrow too! Hoping we might be able to see a sample schedule!

Does anyone know if there is a facebook group yet? ?

Do you want to start one!?

Hi everyone!! I started a facebook group for the 2021 cohort!! Feel free to join !!

Hi all

I am new to this group.  I was accepted to QU and am leaning towards it.  It's a tough call as I have to relocate from CA, rent out my house etc etc... lots to consider, but I thought the zoom call was very informative and the two students in the current cohort seemed to say the schedule was manageable which was a relief to me!  LOL.

I am waiting to hear from NYU too and today a current student on that forum did not have the best things to say about that program - though she did preface that with the fact that COVID has messed everything up.  I am thinking QU because, like many others on here, I really like the holistic approach.

Big challenge is where I should live!  I do not know CT at all and it's a whirlwind!  My partner is coming too so we have a LOT to decide!  I'll join the FB page too once I accept which I think will be very soon!

Thanks for all the great info on this chain.  Appreciate any support/suggestions from anyone...

Hi Tory,

Congrats on your acceptance! That is a crazy big decision to move cross country and I think its great that you are taking that risk (which will be well worth it I'm sure.) I can assure you it is a beautiful state with so many great communities to live in. I think there are lots of housing opportunities right near the Hamden campus which is probably about a 15 min drive. I am not that familiar with North Haven housing options. But if you don't mind a little drive there are lots of options on the shoreline that are beautiful and near the beach and still only about a 30 minute drive to school. I live in Guilford which is a wonderful welcoming and open community with a beautiful town center and beach. But there are also several other towns like Branford, East Haven, North Branford, Hamden, Northford. This list goes on. Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you!

Congrats!!  I grew up in Hamden and the campus is in a beautiful part of town. I would lean toward North Haven, Wallingford for housing. The town/gown relationship with residents an QU is strained at times. (off campus housing parties). So many ethnic food types  and and entertainment in New Haven. Good Luck!

Oh, and the pizza (abeez) in Wooster Square in New Haven is to die for!
